replacement windows with frame removed COST?

Posted At: 2004-09-02 00:04:49

I have a contractor who has done work here in my area of Wichita, Ks and its excellent work, and Simonton Prism Windows 23 units and 37 windows for a total of $18850 turn key. These windows have the Super Spacer and a couple are tempered to meet the Citys codes. Does this seem lot a good figure. Unit inches of glass total 2354.
Thats what the window quote shows. Help please.
Is this a fair price to pay for these great windows installed.

Thanks

You have a fair price! Not knowing what kind of windows and sizing makes it tough to guess. CO windows cost more than the others. You have plenty of multiple units it looks like. So these can play out a bit. Otherwise your around $800 a hole. A bit high but fair. That's going to be a big job. Does this include a wrapping of the exterior with coil stock?

I have brickmold that will be replaced with a syntheic brick mold and sill. The cedar trim will remain unwrapped per me. Those windows are the dark wood interior and tan exterior.

Thanks Guy

Who is the contractor? I live in Derby and resorted to self-install (same as you, complete tear out) because I found nothing but cheese-balls during half a dozen interviews. I knew there had to be somebody, although they eluded me.....

Let him do my job and I'll pass on his name and number to then. I saw his work down the street and its great looking job at a fair price. Your right about the cheese ball saleman. Will that work for you? You could come buy and look at my job when he's done. call me 630-0585.

Thanks Russell. I'm trudging forward with the self-install, but I was interested mostly for future reference. After laying down $100 per square foot estimates for vinyl windows installed (no tear out, just capping and reusing the old frames), the companies I talked to had the same, "we'll give you what we want, when we way, how we want, now shut up and get out your checkbook" attitudes, ......it was clear to me I would be getting a quick and dirty. They were looking for victims, not customers. Glad you found somebody good.
