We are looking for new windows to be put into an older home and to date have found nice wood windows with a large plastic track for the double hungs to move up and down. Are there any reasonable priced windows that do not have the large plastic track.

Marvin is higher end but that is the system they use. As most of this board will attest - You get what you pay for and just because they are more expensive, it is a very good window.
