Sheffield Vs. Excalibur....

Just placed an order for the excalibur, (they are not ordered yet) & am thinking of upgrading to the sheffield instead of the excalibur.

Window company closed until Monday. Final window measuring on Thursday & then order will be placed. I was quoted about $350 per window for excaliburs. How much can I expect the Sheffields to run & is there a huge differece between the quality since it is the same manufacturer? Do you think there would be a problem upgrading? Since they sell Excalibur, I assume I would be able to get the Sheffield too.

Thanks.

Sheffield cost a dealer about $25.00 more per window, which translates usually to about $75.00 to the customer. In my opinion unless your windows are very small the Sheffield well perform much better. Alside's new construction window is basically the Excalibur and is definitely not overbuilt. It's too flimsy for my taste. The Sheffield is a well built window with better performance rating's, but also has more frame which translates to less glass. But I would always go with the latter, unless again your window are very small.

Not to disagree with Windowmann2000, as he is one of the most respected pros on the site, but I pay about $75 more for the Sheffield. I would expect the Sheffield to sell for at least $500.

Everybody gets different price points though, so that could be off some. Some dealers will get a killer price on one or the other if that is what they promise the manufacturer they will be selling the most of. For example, if I say I will be selling 5000 Sheffields this year, they will give me a lower price than Joe Schmoe gets. But I may not get a deal on the Excaliber at all. It just depends on how they work your price points.
I think you would not be sorry upgrading. Good luck.

{By the way, nice to see you back on the site Windowmann2000. Your great advice was missed.}
