OK!!! I bought the windows......an ongoing saga.

Thanks to this board, i avoided the "TinMen" out there, and actually believe i made an intelligent decision in buying vinyl windows.

I ended up buying Steve Hallsted at AllBrand Windows in Costa Mesa.

They had 4 or 5 windows to choose from and i decided on the Polybau (All the windows looked decent and the prices were pretty close)

Steve was pretty much what i wanted in a sales rep, he was informative and helpful making several suggestions some of which reduced the windows we purchased- because he didn't think the new window would look as good as doing it another way. He was also a problem solver - suggesting a nice casement set up on a skylight so that we could get airflow...Never pushy..always helpful.

Price was fair and reasonable - (he even offerred lower price alternatives)

I think the industry could learn from this guy.

SO....the sales process was good...and i (who am a tremendous skeptic) was impressed.

Next is the installation.... i will report back as i go through it....

Thanks for ALL your input!

Posts like this are why we experts spend our free time here posting. I'm glad you got the help you needed to make a wise decision.
I am also very happy you found a good guy to deal with.

I know sometimes it seems like there are only sharks out there in this business, but in reality there are thousands of good people homeowners can deal with where they will get excellent sales, service and installation.
The bad ones are of course the ones you hear about on here, because satisfied customers quite frankly aren't in need of window advice.
