Re: Pricing Simonton Prism Platinum

I thought I remembered you from a few years ago Cheryl. The Impressions 9800 is considered Simonton’s best window. Compared to the Prism Platinum the 9800 is a nicer looking window but when the two windows are equipped with same glass packs the thermal performance is basically identical. The look o...

Good for you Kafisia! I think you made a good choice with Simonton and I hope you will be happy for a long time to come. I have the Impressions and I am pretty happy too.

Re: Pricing Simonton Prism Platinum

Thank you so much, for your kind replies Bill and Kifisia. They are much appreciated! Bill, hi I am so glad to hear from you! It is mostly from your honest and knowledgeable input from a few years ago (and a few other good guys here) that I landed on the right window with the Impressions...so far, s...

Windowmann 2000, Thanks for your response. Have you dealt with Comfortlines sliding patio doors? If so, what is your experience there?

Hello FenEx,

You say that "Simonton windows are good... but not great". Do you include Simonton's top line window (Imp. 9800) in your comment? Also, other than Schuco, what other vinyl windows do you consider a "great window"? [/quote]

Check out www.fiberframe.com Comfortline fiberglass patio doors and windows. Available with stainable real oak finish interior. I recently purchased the patio door and I really like it. However, I did not get the Oak, but I have seen it and it is nice too. The door is solid and also available with t...

Brian, Horror stories? No. My point was more toward the fact that you can get a better quality window or better built window that will perform better and last longer for the buck. I moved to my current home about 1 1/2 years ago and after a lot of reserach on windows, I discovered that the windows t...

SteelersFan, I am just saying that it is a MUCH BETTER window than Brian's other choice which was Wallside. Vinylbilt has a better balance system, spacer system and a better U value. It is also a nicer looking window. Is it top of the line? NO! But it is a much better built window for the buck and w...

Brian, Vinylbilt is a MUCH BETTER choice than Wallside. Their window is nice looking and like you said has super spacer and also has a constant force balance system (way better than Wallsides spiral system).

Brian, That is exactly right! They do have good prices, but with Wallside, you are geting what you pay for. For example, Wallside uses a spiral balance system...not good! Also, be sure to read their 35 year warranty carefully, because you will need it in about 7 to 10 years. Especially if you purcha...

Barbara, I don't know what part of the country you are from, but if you have cold winters, you might want to keep in mind that with blinds between the glass, you will sacrafice some energy efficiency compared to a door without blinds between the glass. Except with Pella because of the design of thei...
