A question for the professionals............. How does egress apply to replacement windows? For example: If I were to replace a window that clearly does not meet the current egress code do I have to meet egress with the new window? Brian, I looked into all of the products I deal with. It would be very likely that you would not be able to get 1 window that large in vinyl. I did find 2 companies that make it in aluminum. The Milgard StyleLine is a less expensive window, although that does not necessarily mean it is lower quality. It does have a slimmer frame which I actually prefer. A mulled assembly would be ever so slightly LESS energy efficient that 3 (or 4) separate windows. The difference is so minute that I would not let energy efficiency be any part of your decision. Check with the maufacturer before you cover them to make sure what is acceptable. Using a film, for example, could void your warranty.
