If it's double strength glass, then it should say on the contract that your getting double strength glass. (I don't think double strength glass is necessary). I would stay away from garbage world as you said, poor quality windows, even if the install is good, the product isn't. And the guy who will ...

If you live in a cold climate a U-Value of .18 to .23 is more favorable. However, you will most likely be able to get this with triple pane and krypton. I am do like glass breakage warranties, but you should consider two things: 1.) If you've lived in your house for 20 years, how many panes of glass...

I hadn't considered fibreglass. Is the cost more generally (we are already over budget). It can be comparable. I can't speak intelligently on prices in Canada. If this is a new home you are planning on building for yourself, and plan to live there for quite awhile, ask yourself this: Is it going to...

THV's compozit windows have been around awhile. They have a vinyl line that has been certified by the NFRC, however, their Compozit windows have not. And that's what I'd consider a problem. Without NFRC testing, people can say their window has any U-Value they want. (So, don't assume just because a ...

i totally disagree about fiberglass. no matter what kind of finish you can get on the inside, it is going to look fake. also, you are not going to be able to match your existing wood work. put wood back in, get a nice stain to it, and you will not regret it I would have to disagree with you. Cindyi...

Vinyl and aluminum Clad have all of the same problems as regular wood windows. The difference is that the moisture can't escape through the vinyl or aluminum, so if there is a lot of moisture the wood will separate from the cladding. You may be more interested in a Fiberglass window. Some have a ver...
