storm windows are the dumbest idea that ever happened. my parents put storm windows on our home when i was 13. my brother was 15. we both immediately knew they were stupid. that was about the last time anyone opened a window at our house. i later bought that house. the first thing i did was cut that...

something doesnt sound right to me. from what you described there may be some costs i dont clearly see, but seems high. i got windows from ww and the best part to me was their estimate/contract form. even if i hadnt bought from them, they gave me numbers. everything is clearly listed with costs. eg....

risaiah, if you are really interested in ww, thats where i got my windows. i think they might work fine for you for 2 reasons. they are up front in their pricing and they are reasonable. did you get an estimate in writing? do if you havent. it shows the cost for any upgrade. the form says $50 dollar...

i would be suspicious of the higher bid. there is likely more difference in the labor than window cost. look at an example of the cheaper bidders work. look at both. i wouldnt assume more cost equals better window/install. sometimes cheaper is better for other reasons as well.

guyincincy, the guys who installed my windows knew a lot more than the guy who sold them to me, so i would heed what these experts tell you. but heres my thoughts anyway. when i was looking, i went to a large area distributor who sold several brands. they liked the ultramax as much or more than anyt...

cant help much, and it appears guy answered your questions; however, i just got the same windows. 2 things: while the window is thick, it comes to exactly the same place at the inside sill as my old one did. i assumed any variation occurred on the outside. did you have room for blinds before? also, ...

i thought my point was clear. most installers/salesmen here like this window. fine. but to the point that none is "helping" this person because i believe you guys want these topics (schuco problem) to fade away. lets see, im being insulting? get real. revue your posts. do you guys ever tal...

my theory is if i come out of this venture unscathed ill be fortunate, but i hate to think it would be uncommon. surely most people are happy with their new windows. to me, it seems the venom and distrust aimed at the co. i chose, could easily be leveled at the entire industry. but i doubt that is t...

you know, i used to write contracts for a living. i recognize boilerplate. why do you guys work so hard to miss my point? you dont need to agree with it, but you should see it. i think all warranties are aimed toward who writes it. i work for who pays me. but i know this, a warranty must offer value...

btw, to make sure ther is no confusion, when i said more affordable, i didnt mean the local alside installer. i went to sears and champion. i went no further as it was obvious i would pay too great a premium for this perceived security. ww wasnt less expensive than the others, but much cheaper than ...

you are trying pretty hard to miss my point then. when i switched to ford, here was the analogy i thought most would make. the saleen warranty is akin to the installers warranty. ford warranty is the product. ford will say, deal with saleen. saleen will say, thats nothing we messed with. can you ima...

tried to post this once . dont know where it went.. ill try again. i used the mustang analogy because a person can spend 85k or 20k. only the 20k car has a ford warranty. i didnt buy the cheapest windows i could find. i picked the window befor the installer. i wanted to use a local independent. very...
