Re: Marvin Infinity Quote

J scott, Yes, I should tell my previous company about the issues I had before so they can be aware of it this next time (that is if I go with them). But I would have thought this was common practice - if the window is hard to lift up or down - maybe something needs adjustment. Or if looking at the w...

Re: Marvin Infinity Quote

J, I'm not too sure I liked the way the last windows were installed. I had to have the owner come back to fix some windows b/c they couldn't be tilted in without having the screws on the inside of the sashes scrape and gouge the frame of the window. Also, a few of the windows were difficult to open ...

Re: Marvin Infinity Quote

The quote was for insert replacement windows. Although you need the upgraded lowE-366 package to qualify for the tax credit (at least with the double hung with grids I was looking at).

Anyway, I've a quote for 5 Marvin Infinity windows with the low-E which qualifies for the gov. rebate. with colonial grids on the top sash only, white interior and exterior. the dimensions are 54x30 and 5 of these babies each will be $791 (...

What about the Park Avenue by Thermal Industries? I heard this has a thinner frame too.

Re: Marvin Infinity air leak

Well I checked the window's squearness today and found everything is good. I did take a closer look at the sashes and saw a tiny ray of light streaming in from outside. I found the weatherstripping is just about 1/8" or a little more away from the grey fuzzy strip. I this may be the issue - the...

Re: Marvin Infinity air leak

JScott, thats it - weatherstripping is exactly what they sent me :D . The current stripping in the window frame is somewhat deformed - looks like there are little "V" cuts all along the stripping - like someone took scissors to it. This probably needs replacing. Anyway, I'm going to measur...

Re: Marvin Infinity air leak

I live in the Rochester area. No. These windows do not have a stainable interior. They are the plain old "Infinity" from Marvin, white inside and out. No, I have not contacted my retailer - but I have contacted them twice thus far so I feel as I am one of "those" customers (the o...

Re: Anderson, Marvin or Pella?

Thanks for the info on the Integrity. Unfortunatly, I don't think this is a viable option as I don't want to do a complete tare out; I have gumwood molding around some of the windows which I didn't want to disrupt. As a side bar, I thought Marvin had some issues with their wood aluminum clad windows...

Re: Anderson, Marvin or Pella?

JScott, sorry about that, I thought you meant I have Marvin Integrity, not that I should look at Marvin Integrity. My bad. Anyway, I thought Marvin Integrity was just for new construction, not a replacement option. I did look at these windows and the hardware selection is better than the Infi...

Marvin Infinity air leak

Got a question regarding the Infinity from Marvin. Has anyone experienced any air leakage from these windows? I've got a couple of double hungs installed last year, and just recently, they seem to be leaking a little stream of air from the right and left corners of where the top and bottom sash meet...

Re: Anderson, Marvin or Pella?

No, upstairs I have Marvin Infinity. They're white with a more modern lookng sash lift/lock. I thought these windows would be okay as my trim is all white upstairs. But downstairs, the wood is stained dark (I think its gumwood trim). I have looked at Rochester Colonial - way too much $$$$. Nice peop...

Re: Anderson, Marvin or Pella?

Thanks for the prompt responses! :D
Are there any other good windows on the market that have a wood veneer interior with a slim profile/frame; hopefully with more traditional looking hardware? I know - I know, it's a lot to ask of a window - but hey, I gotta look at these things every day. :P

Re: Anderson, Marvin or Pella?

Okna Starmark seems to have nice numbers - but I havn't seen them before. Can anyoone tell me if they've had experience with these - good or bad? Also, what is the difference between OKNA windows and OKNA Starmark windows? Is one a vinyl and the other a vinyl with veneer? I'm a little confused on th...

Anderson, Marvin or Pella?

Help! I'm looking at double hung, wood clad windows with argon and low-e from Anderson, Marvin and Pella. One issue is that I don't know which window is the most energy effecient :?. I live in Rochester NY and we have cold winters and humid summers - if that helps. Also, will wood-clad windows hold ...
