Try Peachtree windows. Your local Lowes may carry them depending on where you live.

Re: Advice on window quote
The company does subcontract, but only to a single individual. Should this be a concern? Check out their references. Subcontracting itself isn't bad...but subbing to bad subs is bad. Usually the cheapo companies do this. Subbing to good subs is just as good as having hourly guys do the job. There a...

Re: Need advice QUICK
I can kind of appreciate why a lot of window salesfolks insist that they talk to all the homeowners at once, though.... You have to show the window to everyone involved. As an installer...there were times when we'd pull up to an install job and the wife would be crying about what the husband ordere...

...and he may be getting "paid" 600 bucks a day, but he's not "making" 600 bucks a day. So after he pays everything he has to pay, he may be left with 200 bucks to last him the week. It's a hard job.

Re: What other brands should I consider?
Check out OKNA 500 and Great Lakes Grandview 5000. I wouldn't worry so much about using independant installers (vs. installed by manufacturer) but just make sure you get a good one. Lots of them have workmanship warranties so that might help put your mind at ease. I think you'll find that the smalle...

I'm not sure how it compares to the Vanguard, but the Grandview 5000 is a good window. Very nice looking too with lots of options.

Re: Soft-Lite Imperial LS: Slider vs. awning
I would think that you'd get better air and water infiltration performance with the awning. They seal tighter than sliders. Being above a bathtub you'll probably get condensation from inside no matter what the numbers are. I believe Softlite has a lifetime warranty that covers hardware, so if you ha...

Tax Credit for a Camp
I met a guy tonight who lives in a house that is technically a "camp", but it is his primary residence. Will he have any trouble claiming the tax credit if he replaces his windows because it's a "camp"?

Re: Please review the replacement windows estimate I was quoted!
Reputable companies will tell you what the "whole window u-value" is, as opposed to telling you about their "center of glass" u-value, which will always look like a better number. The whole window u-value takes all aspects of the window, frame, spacer, etc...into account. It tell...
