Viwinco vs. simonton impact windows and sliders?
Looking for new construction options for a coastal home that I will be building. The two products my builder prefers are the windows and sliding glass doors by the two companies mentioned above. Are there any major pros or cons to either of those two brands? All products that I need (double hung win...

Re: Safe to use privacy films on Marvin Integrity windows?
As a Marvin Rep. just please be aware that applying a film will void your warranty. The hardware on your units will still be covered, but if any glass issues arise in the future such as a seal failure, Marvin will not cover a replacement under warranty. Diddo on 3M, you should investigate them befo...

Which windows for durability and price, not efficiency?
I have just finished installing Integrity windows on one wall of my home within the living space and will continue with these as needed. However I need to replace two double hung windows in my garage for which energy efficiency and daylight opening are secondary to getting a window that will last ov...

Re: New Integrity windows not closing properly
Re-read the instructions. These blocks that you speak of could be shipping blocks and should be removed. Without seeing it, it is tough to fully grasp. Good luck! I know the ones that you are speaking of but those have been removed and are not the issue. I probably should not have said "blocks...

New Integrity windows not closing properly
I just finished installing 5 new wood ultrex Integrity windows to find that none of them close all the way down. I have not been able to get a rep to look at them with the Holiday this week but out of curiosity has anyone come across this before? It seems that the corner blocks that go under the bot...

Install Integrity windows over Asphalt felt or over other??
After reading the instructions on the Integrity windows it lists a procedure for installation over asphalt felt. Is is best practice to this is even with having to make 90deg bends in the felt to allow it into the rough opening (won't it crack)? How about getting some wide, flexible PVC and using th...

Which caulk to use??
I have read the instructions for my integrity windows and it calls out "Grade NS Class 25 per ASTM C920 sealants". It then recommends the following: OSI® Quad Pro--Series®; solvent release butyl rubber sealant or DAP DynaFlex230t. The DynaFlex230 has a 50-year guaranty as do most silicones...

Re: anyone using sill pans?
This one does have a dam. In that case would I be better of ripping a wedge for the sill and flashing it to make a sloped opening or will the flat sill pan be enough?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Round Top Windows
I currently discovered severe frame rot and a broken seal on my rounded top window. All my windows are MW, double hung wood types installed in 1995 when the home was built. I have just started replacing the bad windows with either Integrity or sash-replacements and Azek moulding (depending on their ...

Re: Final opinion needed! Starmark vs Infinity
Regardless of your decision go back and negotiate a bit; in my area i found a huge (20%) difference in infinity window pricing and an even larger difference on their install costs from dealer to dealer. The possibility exists that you can get either one at a better price.
