I'm confused about the discussion here. I thought a sub-contractor would be the same as an IC who is doing some work through a middle entity, whether its HD or a local window company or a builder, etc. As a customer, it seems to me the important thing is to do due diligence on whoever is going to be...

anthony, I could be wrong about the pre-install. I assumed this because around the buck there is a solid framework on all sides to which it is attached. No spaces anywhere - all solid wood. If the buck is actually the only RO then its a helluva thick and sturdy one, but it could be so since the roof...

I agree with Macdawg and Skydawggy but also understand how 007 was disappointed by his interaction with the mfr rep. I think most homeowners expect that window mfrs with high quality products would be vetting their dealers to minimize the risk of a bad customer experience. And would want to hear fee...
