I agree, and they now offer the 400 Series as an "insert" window which may work out well for you.

Good luck.

Re: New to this forum. Looking for advise.

Another option is to go with Andersen Windows where you could have the low maintenance of a vinyl exterior along with a stained wood interior. We carry a vinyl window line that offers a faux-wood interior and it leaves a lot to be visually desired. Nothing beats the beauty of real wood. If this soun...

Re: Milgard VS IWC

Yes, I did buy from IWC and I am happy I did. They are white inside and have a thermal break, while Milgard has neither. The patio door does have a little air leak at the top and and bottom only when there is a very strong wind. I believe it is a trade off and if I had to make the decision today I ...

Re: Ply Gem Pro vs. Premium -- on the West Coast

Only their fixed windows are .20 and qualify to be considered R-5 windows. Their operable units are .23 or higher. Still these are good numbers and they do have NFRC labels on the units we have ordered.

If you need operable R-5 windows I would look for Atrium Windows.

Re: Serious Windows

Caveat Emptor Thank you for sharing your story. I have a meeting with Serious Windows next Tuesday. Being on the left coast we are in the "green belt" and I believe that the type of window Serious makes fits our market. However, quality is the most important feature that a window line mus...

Andersen 100 Series

The 100 series is Andersen's all "Fibrex" window. I am looking for some UN-BIASED education on this product. In comparison to Marvin's Integrity "fiberglass" window the 100 series is 1/3 less expensive. On a large project that can mean thousands of dollars in savings. Obviously, ...

Re: R-5 Dual Pane window

Is anybody building an R-5 dual pane window? I know PPG and Guardian both offer R-5 dual pane glass combos but I haven't found anyone using it yet. What is the word on this? I know of one manufacturer that has been working on one. They just got the NFRC testing done....and failed. Back to the drawi...

Re: Need Window Advice - Seattle Area

Thanks. Wood is nice but unaffordable for this project. Fiberglass may be the way I have to go. I just priced out some Empire Pacific painted vinyl and compared it to Ply Gems' Mira wood window and the wood was only 40% more. SDL Grids will add some more, but you should check it out and get a local...

Re: Need advice regarding a window broker

Thanks for sharing. I've never sat through one of these bs window sessions. We have a company around here (that was fined by the Washington State AG) and maybe I should call them and see how it goes.

Nevermind, what was I thinking?

I want to thank all that took the time to comment. I really do appreciate your opinions. I wanted to take a few days to think and contemplate before responding. I hired a new sales person this past Monday and have been training all week, so the timing for this topic could not be better. This was par...

Re: Tax Credit Legislation

[quote="EcoStar Windows"]I can't think of a set of real world variables that would result in that much savings unless you purchased the windows for practically nothing and did the install yourself. But that's not what the claim is based on so I have to call BS on this one. In fact frankly ...

Are the windows in the East are of lower quality? They sell only single-hungs for your area?I found it interesting they have the tilt-n-turns,these are hard to find my area in vinyl. The local Silverline rep has silverline's in his house and the Norandex rep has Simonton's builder grade in his and th...
