F.Y.I.

The Pella store rep called me today. He knows we are price checking and wants to deal.

Maybe that is the way the business works but it sure turns me off. Can't anyone be a straight up person?

Guy, How does Lowes hire its installers? Is there one contractor with his crew per store or several? I wouldn't know a good one from a bad one. The guy came out to measure for my quote today. He apeared very professional. He took extra time on top of a ladder measuring the half circle window in one ...

If I didn't love the look of stained wood, I would switch to a high end vinyl in a minute. Just so I didn't need to worry about rot and maintenance. Just my opinion.

If I were getting vinyl, I would look at Schuco, Alside, Simonton, and Certainteed based on what I have read on this site. My parents have Certainteed and I think they are very nice. They really like them. I did look at Sunrise the other day. I wanted to see what the "oak" vinyl interior l...

Thanks RC. I knew you had these windows from your other posts. When you open your casement and look at the weatherstripping, do you have a gap at the corners like the ones at the showroom? The wood is exposed. Won't water get in there when the window is closed? or is something done during installati...

Where I live, we have Lowes and Home Depot across the street from each other. Lowes has the Pella 850 equal to the Architect classic series at the Pella store. Home Depot has the Andersen 400 series. Is the basic difference, one is aluminum and the other vinyl clad? It seems many on this board don't...

I just got back from Lowes. I was checking out the Pella 850 series. According to the sales guy, these are the same as the architect series from the Pella store but installed by Lowes installers. I haven't got the quote yet but he assured me it would be less than the Pella store. Lowes install warra...

I live in Michigan. My house which is 10 years old has vinyl clad wood windows by MLC. They are not the best quality but all the builders seem to use them. The weather stripping can be pulled right out and there is wood damage on the inside. Some are worse than others. I started looking at Pella bec...
