DougInMD I don't know Castle Windows, I assume they are a local manufacturer just serving your area, or a dealer for someone elses product. To answer some of your questions, triple pane is the most energy efficient glazing system. You can compare U values of all our glazing options on our website ww...

Dear Windowshopper, Yes, inserting a Gorell window with foam wrap into the opening without using any additional insulation and then caulking is considered acceptable by Gorell. This assumes that the window was properly measured and there are no large open voids in the wall itself around the window. ...

To all: I first posted this on the wrong link, shows my computer skills. Seems that there has been way to much written here, and a lot of offense taken. Our research, whether you believe it or not, says the closed cell foam wrap works as well as any other product in stopping air infiltration into th...

Our research, whether you believe it or not, says the closed cell foam wrap works as well as any other product in stopping air infiltration into the home. One of the best parts of it is that it comes on the windo...

Fenex, I do have Gorell windows installed on my house, and they do not have additional insulation stuffed around them, just the closed cell foam, which by the way does an excellent job of stopping air infiltration. Fiber insulation only functions if it is lose (ask the people who make it), if it is ...

Windowshopper Normal installation is one screw to each side of the top sash and one screw to each side of the bottom sash. There are also Jamb adjustment screws at the center of the window in both tracks to square the window to the opening. Installation methods and procedures do vary depending on th...

Windowshopper, Whole lot of correspondence going on. If the installer has 9 years experience and you trust the dealer's expertise, I would accept the explanation that when the window was squared to the opening the gaps were taken care of because our foam wrap extends about a 1/2" from the frame...

Va-DC shopper, I will try to answer some of your questions. Grids do vary by manufacturer. The majority of grids are rectangular boxes which look fine from a distance but have no intrinsic beauty. Several manufactures do a sculptured gid, simulating milled wood, as we do. Then there are the connecto...

Karl, We make a tilt and slide window, as well as many versions of sliders that do not tilt, but the sash easily remove to the inside for cleaning. All our vertically operating windows (double hung) also tilt in for cleaning. The rollers on the sliders are metal so they wont flatten out. Also, if yo...

Dear Cheryl, We have just announced offering blinds in our sliding patio doors. We do not offer blinds with low e glass as we too are concerned the blind would mar the low e finish, and since there is no low e, there is no gas fill as it would not impove the energy efficiency. If you want the conven...

The 5300 series are our top of the line products, with the 5200 next and then the 5100. All three product lines are comparable in quality and features to most of our competitors "top of the line" products so it can get confusing comparing them. The 5100 series has a thinner frame profile s...
