Re: Okna Windows highly recommend excellent value

Why would one have to get over 14 estimates? Let me enlighten you. First off, you can not even get the full NFRC and AAMA ratings or a price per window on many windows unless you get an estimate. That is the marketing game I experienced. Then there are the companies that say they sell a window you c...

Okna Windows highly recommend excellent value

Anyone looking for an excellent window at a competitive price will want to look at the Okna window 800. 500 and 400, Okna was recommended to me and it is the best quality for the price I have found. BTW I have gotten over 14 estimates. Okna has a very comprehensive website and it will help any new w...

Re: Soft-Lite Windows

While the Soft Lite Pro triple pane Krypton rated excellent, I found the Okna 800 Dx triple argon dp rate 60 was even higher and the price was comparable. The Okna does not use metal support and this makes me more comfortable. I like both companies but the Okna web site is very comprehensive! Okna i...

Re: What to look for in a replacement window

I want to thank you very much for suggesting Okna and for suggesting to call Okna directly for a dealer. I was given the name of a excellent dealer (Sidetex from North Haven CT) who are straight shooters and very professional, I highly recommend them. Also, I want to say what a great Co. Okna is and...

Re: Soft-Lite Windows

Since I am in Ct too I will share this as you are trying to make a choice still. I have had over 12 quotes and it is frustrating. I have had a hand full of the 3 hour sales pitches in my home. I just got a quote from soft Lite Elements two days ago in New Haven County CT as I am on the shoreline. It...

DP and DH, do they both mean Design Pressure or is DH something else or do they mean the same thing. sometimes I see DP R-50, C-50 what does this mean? Air Infiltration and Air lea...

Re: What to look for in a replacement window

The number of windows is 17. There seems to be two prices in my area, CT, premium windows at about $1000 or higher per window installed or mid rang at about $450.00 installed through a small dealer and local contractor. All the performance numbers I have seen are with in a good range. Some big names...

Re: What to look for in a replacement window

Wow, thank you for saying that. That is why I have been shopping around because I thought I could find a premium product if I did my home work and hired my own contractor. However, I have not been able to make this happen. I have gotten 12 estimates on differnet windows, from 8 different companies. ...

Re: Soft-Lite Windows

Thank you for the clarification on AI and AL. hum, interesting though about the use of metal in the Soft Lite Imperial Pro. The use of metal is giving me concern too, even though the over all ratings are so good. How is it that the Pro has such good ratings with the use of metal, does anyone know? I...

Re: Soft-Lite Windows

Thanks for the feed back on the Soft-Lite CO. I did speak with the dealer to workout details of warranty replacements, looking solid now. I am questioning the Soft-Lite Imperial Pro use of metal reinforcements in the frame. However, the metal reinforcements are PVC covered which Green Building Advis...

Re: What to look for in a replacement window

Would you suggest a solid mid rang window, not every consumer can afford to spend $17,000.00 on windows. I have to believe there is a reliable product out there for the average individual.

Can you suggest a mid grade window worth installing? Not every consumer can afford to spend $17,000.00 on replacement windows. I have to believe there is a product out there for every budget.

Re: What to look for in a replacement window

The windows are rotting out of the house, the sills are falling apart. There are gaps between the frame of the 1987 wood windows and the opening.
It is also very drafty in the winter. If we do not replace the windows they will continue to fall apart and rot.
