Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has had experience with Wincore windows?
How would you rate them compared to Simonton?
Welcome any comments and opinions..........
Thanks,
Don

Re: wincore vinyl replacements windows
Don,
They are very similar (basically identical which makes me wonder about the non-compete clause) given that they were designed and built by the same folks that built the Simonton brand.
They have good mid range performance and are a pretty solid window.
Simonton has some newer and more aesthetically pleasing options but Wincore is coming along.
Wincore would probably not be mentioned amongst the top performers but you certainly would not be getting a bad window by any stretch.

Thanks for the reply. I was told they are very similar, but I'm not familiar with Wincore.
I'm looking forward to seeing a sample for comparison.

Don

Without being and exact replica....they are exact replica.
Not sure how WinCore was legally permitting to do it...but they did.

+1. VERY similar to the Simonton, and I believe that it is the product offered by Sears in most (if not all) markets. As WoW said, solid window -and can be a fine choice if you get a great deal. Just don't pay a premium as there are choices with substantially better performance.
Re: wincore vinyl replacements windows
Hi all, regarding Simonton vs Wincore.
I had a salesman come out today to show me the Wincore 5400 and the 7700 model.
He said the 7700 is about 20% more than the 5400. The main difference between the
2 models is the 7700 has a 7/8" space between glass where the 5400 has a 3/4" space.
Obviously the 7700 has a wider frame, don't know if the 7/8" makes that much of a difference
in performance?
Also noticed on the double hungs, the 5400 only has 1 vent latch on the side vs 1 on each side of the 7700,
don't know if that's a security issue having only one, or just a corner cut to save $?
I welcome all comments from you pro's out there in window land!
Thanks,
Don

Re: wincore vinyl replacements windows
There is a very easy answer as to how it will affect performance, and it is reflected in the U value. Ask for the difference in ratings to decide whether or not there is a large enough difference.
On the vent latches, they are not meant for to prevent forced entry, so that is not really an issue. Some windows don't even have them. The only thing I'd say is that it might look a little weird with just one, although its unlikely that anyone would notice anyway.
