I want to replace 27 windows and possibly put siding on my Central N.J. home. I need to keep the cost down without sacrificing quality. I will also want installation.
I'm considering - Windows: Ideal, United, Sun Rise, Simonton, or other suggestions?
Siding: Charter Oak, Certainteed, or suggestions?

Have you reached out to AGM? They are in Florham Park.
They are a great shop in New Jersey and I have sent a couple of clients there from before. They were ecstatic with the results.

Ideal and United are both manufactured in NJ close to you. That's sort of a pro I guess? The con is that they don't make great windows. Their upper tear series would be on par with the lowest vinyl that I would ever sell and install and for that money I'd invest in something better like OKNA Sunrise, or Soft-Lite. Simonton 5500 or 9800 can be optioned to provide a decent window, but I prefer a little less bulky window design.
I'd highly recommend contacting Paul (masterext) from these forums as you should be well within his territory. He carries great products and his guys do a real nice job.
Certainteed is a major player in the vinyl siding market. They have different series so if you can, go with the good stuff. Alside makes pretty good siding, however it looks a little strange to me at times in comparison to similar priced products from Mastic, Certainteed, and Crane.
