Hi,
My husband and I are in need of advice regarding which window is better for our area. We are in the Austin area and have two quotes that are roughly 55k for the Simonton Daylight Max all single hung in white, vs the Don Young 8200 single hung on bottom floor, double hung on top floor (11 windows), and black frames for 63k. We have a total of 60 windows which is great until you have to replace them. I currently have builder-grade aluminum windows with no low e and I like the small frame which is why I am looking at the DaylightMax or the DY. I am looking for what will hold up best under the heat as many of my windows face direct afternoon sun and it seems like aluminum would be tougher than plastic in the sun. I feel like the DY windows are the way to go, but I am not a window pro.
I would appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks in advance.

I think for the narrowest profile and the stability in that narrower profile, the DY is probably the better option for you.

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the help.

I am not sure the DYC makes the energy code.
Re: Don Young 8200 vs Simonton Daylight Max
I don't think it does either if we lived directly in Austin, but we don't and I couldn't find any requirements in my local building codes to suggest the DY windows would not work.
Re: Don Young 8200 vs Simonton Daylight Max
If you don’t need to pass an inspection for energy code, Don Young’s 8200 would be my choice without hesitation.

Great to hear. I will be signing contracts tomorrow on the DY. So very appreciative of the quick responses. Enjoy the rest of the week!!
