Re: Simonton - to reinforce or not

Thanks everyone. The order is placed. We are redoing our entire house with 27 Impressions 9800 windows in 17 openings. We upgraded to the aluminum screens and the 1” superspacer glass pack, and had all double hung windows reinforced at meeting rail except for two openings where the system would not ...

Me too. Where is that info? It’s not on the label and the salesperson seems to have no idea.

Re: Simonton - to reinforce or not

Thanks bill. I ordered the DP55 on all the double hung and DP25 for everything else. We’re doing a full house replacement. Im curious, why do people recommend adding a reinforced meeting rail for non-coastal installs? Is this a gimmick, or is there a real benefit? My incentive was hearing that the D...

Re: Simonton - to reinforce or not

I found the magic words I suppose. DP65 - this design pressure adds the aluminum reinforced meeting rail, and all rails (a9 reinforcement.) This also changes some drainage plugs which increase the AI numbers. DP55 - this design pressure adds the aluminum reinforced rail (a2 reinforcement). Also chan...

Simonton - to reinforce or not

I'm back again, asking another question as we finalize a quote for Simonton windows. Previously a few members of this board have recommended that I should request "optional sash reinforcement" in the Simonton products. This has been an interesting path, that has led me to understand the fo...

Re: Can anyone post pictures of Simonton 9800 windows

I have been down the review of numerous windows and my head is spinning. The different NFRC ratings, vs the aesthetics, vs options have led me to believe there is no perfect window with no tradeoffs.

Re: Can anyone post pictures of Simonton 9800 windows

Yes! Thank you so much.

Is there a way you could confirm whether the double hung window has covers over the tracks the lower sash slides up and down in? I think they are called balance covers maybe?

Can anyone post pictures of Simonton 9800 windows

As the title states. Looking for pictures of the Simonton 9800 double hung and casement windows inside and out. I mean real life pictures, not the brochure picture. My wife and I are nearly settled on Simonton 9800 windows, but can’t find any real pictures of the casement or double hung windows up cl...

It’s amiericas window that sells Okna but only insert style replacement. Window world makes their own windows. Or that’s what they sa...

Why is shopping for windows so difficult as a homeowner?

This forum has been very helpful. After spending 4 months searching for replacement window options, I have a few observations from my experience that I wanted to share. Re: Simonton prism line?

I just got off the phone and was told by the sales manager of Simonton that they didn’t offer the reinforced meeting rail as an option in their prism or impressions line. Something was said about if they “increased the design pressure” it might add it. But it sounded they didn’t want to use that pat...
