Re: Marvin Elevate,Mezzo, Zen Nirvana and Sunrise Restoration
One other thing to consider along with look and feel of the replacement window is their actual performance. Make sure you do your research on spacer, U values, SHGC, VT, CR, and Air Infiltration. A window can look nice and feel nice, but not accomplish it's #1 goal and that's keeping the elements ou...

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL
Hey there, Mailman, will try to answer the best I can here. On the grids, SDLs, we didn't even bother asking for a quote on them. Had researched grids before going in to get quotes, and Mrs. and I agreed we didn't want them. Then, knowing there was additional cost, made it even better. Old windows h...

Re: Provia Endure vs Aspect vs Soft-lite pro - Please help !!
Ok, so I just had a 18 (actually 16 with 2 on backorder) Endure windows installed and after reading your posts about Endure and Aspect being identical, had me scratching my head. I'm fortunate enough to have a 27" monitor and brought brochures up for each model side-by-side. Here's what I'm see...

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL
Just added some more pics to the gallery from the past 2 days. Absolutely a night and day difference as you can see from the pics. Still have 2 more to be replaced - 1 double hung with tempered glass that is taking a bit longer and 1 regular replacement. The 2nd replacement met an unfortunate demise...

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL
Very impressed so far with the install process and just the windows themselves. The installer got 6 of them done today, all upstairs where my kids bedrooms / distance learning room is. Wanted these done first before they come back here tomorrow. You could just tell this guy's been around the block a...

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL
Been about 7 weeks since we put the deposit down on the windows and the dealer just reached out this afternoon and they're ready to start installing tomorrow! Guess this is the kind of stuff you get super stoked about as you get older :D Will post up some before / install / after pics as well. Deale...

Re: Soft Lite Element vs Slocomb vs Window World?
Yeah, MI Windows are complete garbage. I'm in the process of replacing their contractor grade windows in my house and it's been overdue way too long. Things are literally falling apart from the inside out and they couldn't hold a slight breeze out. From all my research, Window World may not be much ...

Re: Sound abatement?
Just remember, there's more than 1 way to skin a cat with trying to accomplish noise reduction. I believe glass thickness, double vs triple pane, and laminates / coverings for the glass can all factor in. Make sure to look at all your options and where the performance ratings shake out and then what...

Re: Old Window
From a consumer standpoint, I would just have the any dealers quote you with and without replacing the window and see what they say also. If you do your research on dealers locally (Google reviews, Angie's List, BBB, etc.), you'll quickly see which dealers are standup and which ones are blowing smok...

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL
Yes, price includes windows, install, taxes, and haul away of old windows. I'm right at $600 / window.

Re: Quote in Rhode Island
I was in a similar situation last month, trying to decide between Provia Endures and some other leading manufacturers / quotes, including Zen Nirvana / Lotus, Polaris Ultraweld, and Sunrise Restorations. I agree, Provia seems to offer a lot of bang for the buck. I did end up going with the Endures, ...

Re: Michigan window replacement
I was in a similar situation looking at windows starting about 3-4 weeks ago. Had a chance to see a Polaris Ultraweld sample window and it is stout. Unfortunately, quote was about $6K higher (18 total windows) than similar performing windows, including Sunrise Restorations. It was a similar setup th...

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL
I ended up going with the Provia Endure windows this afternoon. Owner of the company and my sales rep both came out to do final measurements, walk me through everything, and of course collect a down payment! I fully get that the Restorations is a better window, but after some negotiation, not sure i...

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL
Quick question for the experts here. How important is single strength vs. doubles strength glass in dual pane double hung or slider windows? Just spent some time researching and get conflicting information. Looks like the Zen windows are double strength, the Endure is quoted as single strength, and ...

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL
Thanks for the feedback so far. While I'm not sure I would exactly call the Endure or any of these windows cheap, they all seem to be a definite upgrade to many of the big box store replacement windows and mid-grade stuff out there I've done research on. I'm currently going through a final round of ...
