Replacement Windows
Window Damon - I live about 70 miles SW of Chicago and just a few short years ago I elected to replace my windows with Schuco units. I can attest to the quality and effectiveness of these units with no second thoughts at all. In fact, on a followup call the installer noticed a barely discernible pro...

Window Installer
Jet 4061 - I live a bit south of you down around Morris. I used ProMax Construction out of Decatur for my Shuco windows and I'm very satisfied with both the windows and the install. In fact, I recommended both to a close friend of mine in Ottawa and he's also delighted with the product and the insta...

pellaman 7 - I'm not going to get into a philosophical argument as this isn't the forum for it. However, the discount(s) were available only during the initial visit - period. At least that's what we were told and I know that at least one of my presentations called in about two days later to order b...

cbo - I sold windows for Sears earlier last year. The rep was NOT being dishonest - he was presenting the program the way he'd been trained to. And as far as I know, they DO offer those discounts on the initial visit only - at least that's what we were led to believe. However, the windows are made b...

Mass. Window Guy - Personally, I doubt very much that any warm air got out and caused condensation to form. The physical dynamics just aren't there - Firstly, as far as I know, cold goes to heat and not visa versa. Second, what are the probabilities that interior warm air could escape and rather tha...

Chrisc - I have a feeling that what you're noticing is a reason for celebration, if I'm wrong one of the pros here will correct me. Seems to me that the frost on the outside of the outer pane would indicate that the middle and inside pane with their LowE coating and krypton fill are preventing the w...

Pam - You're right on the money! The HD and the Sears are identical except for branding. Even HD has them overpriced. Neither Sears nor HD are Simonton's best. That is not to say that they're poor - as I stated they're a good mid-range window. I'm not a pro but I believe from what I've seen that the...

Sears windows are made by Simonton. They are a good mid-range window but are waaay over-priced. I sold for Sears early this year and while the windows are good, the price is exorbitant. They'll average about $1,000/window and for that kind of $$ you can get a LOT better. Considering your geographic ...

For what it's worth, I had Schuco's installed last month. However, at the time I placed the order the dealer called the Schuco Territory rep and explained that I wanted the new warranty. I spoke with the rep and agreed to settle for the warranty on letterhead as they hadn't received the printed form...

TFrazier - Sorry for the delay - I just saw your post. Relative to noise, I went from 35 year old single pane sliders with 35 year old single pane sliding storms to the Schuco 4000's. There is no doubt that the new windows keep the house a LOT quieter. The question then becomes, quieter than other n...

cin - You asked for a response from anyone that has ordered Schuco windows. I had 19 Schuco's installed last month (1 Bow window counting as 5 lites/windows) and paid under $10,000 for them. Since I'm in the Chicago area your dealer wasn't involved at all. For 23 windows your quote doesn't sound all...

Gladness
RF -
I'm glad to hear that everything went well for you. In my case there was absolutely no sense of being rushed. Things were done methodically without any push to 'get it done' overly quickly. I think we'll both be happy
Now, about that beer.......... Lol.

RF - Sorry I couldn't reply before the board changed out the software. In answer to your question, I contracted with Window4U who is a regular pro in this forum. I'd be willing to bet a beer or two that you used W1S1 out of Chicago. I can only say that if your install was equal to just 2/3 of mine, ...
