Re: Gorell 5300 series bubbles in window coating
that happened to about 12 sashes on one of my customers homes, Gorell told me that it was indeed a defect, they wanted me to pay for the shipping of the new sashes, btw they sent the entire sash not just the IG unit, i asked them if they could ship it to another local Gorell dealer at no cost and th...

i absolutely agree with closer scrutiny of AI #s, i think some of these companies that put out AI #s at .03 or lower may be doing a little manipulating. i would say that goes for U-Value as well

Re: Should my brand-new Gorell 5155's be leaking?
Golly, i hope i did not start an argument, i certainly did not intend to, just thought i would point out that the AI #s were about the same. Im sure the 5100 series is great even with a AI rating as poor as that. Having dealt with Wayne on a few levels, i wonder what his take would be.

Re: Should my brand-new Gorell 5155's be leaking?
just making an observation, never was a fan of the 5100 series, now the 5300 series is a better quality window. the consensus seems to be that the AI # should be .1 or below, so what makes the 5100 series a good pick with such a high AI #?

If that window has a AI rating of .17, that is comparable with the alside excaliburs AI rating.

2010 TAX CREDIT
Is there anyone that would not qualify for the energy tax credit, assuming that it is their primary non-business residence? Are their any caps? If a homeowner owes $ at the end of the year will this be a deduction from that mony owed? If the homeowner is due a refund will this be added to that refun...

Re: Gorell quote
The Gorell 5305 is a nice product, a little bulky on the vinyl IMO but a good solid window. The Harvey Tribute is also a nice window, a little less bulky and a little nicer look to it IMO. i assume you are interested in the triple pane on both of these models. the tribute you can opt for no lift rai...

Re: Alside Excalibur Climatech Vinyl Windows Questions HELP!!
i think the deal your friend is giving you is a good one. I have installed many excalibur windows in my time and i have had many happy customers. No, it is not your "best" window or even in the top few, but the window will not fall out, assuming its installed corretly, it will not save you...

Re: Harvey vs OKNA
this is the problem with sites like this...seems like many posters give opinions but dont really know what LINE of windows the consumer is looking at all of the time. we all know that this site seems to favor Gorell Okna Simonton Sunrise ( i think that includes most) which i too agree are top qualit...

Re: OKNA 400
i think the reason that the board is questioning price is because the window costs much more than $150. not including a good quality sealant and some pvc capping. a large majority of qualified window installers would not sell & install the 400 at the price you were quoted, thus the concern..somt...

Re: OKNA 400
$350 does sound low for the 400 series, especially where i am in the north east. if you are getting grids or other options then it sounds very fishy. Either the installer is just hanging on and needs the work to survive or he is going to use low end installers that do not get paid much for your inst...

Re: Final opinion needed! Starmark vs Infinity
I would use the Marvins. Better name better product. IMO. If you ask the Marvin dealer/installer to be a little more competitive with his pricing, who knows, maybe it might sway your decision...to me it sounds as if you want the Marvins, otherwise you would have chose the Starmarks already.
