Re: Best Sunroom windows

If you go with sliders you might want to look into full screens. That way in the summer you could remove the sashes to get full ventilation.

Re: Black exterior on vinyl (Harvey specific)

I used to run a window manufacturing company and we painted vinyl windows without problems. From the information I received from the paint supplier the black paint on vinyl had less of a heat buildup than the standard tan available from the vinyl extruder. We painted quite a few vinyl window orders ...

Re: DURALITE/DURASEAL VS SUPER SPACER

Booshang,

I've been using Super Spacer for over 10 years and have NEVER heard of the problem you are having with your sample. I would imagine that the people at Edgetech would love to see your sample.

Re: having a change of heart re. replacing windows

There are a few things to consider with replacement windows. 1) Are your old windows a high maintenance item? Wood windows need to be painted and usually leak a lot of air due to the general lack of weatherstripping. 2) Do you really want to improve the efficiency of your home? For the next 14 month...

Re: Tax Credit

You can claim the tax credit for both years. However the total for both years cannot exceed $1500 or 30% of the window cost.

Re: Help finding replacement window, Please Help!

I know a lot of window manufacturers are limited on minimum sizes but my company makes a fully welded slider as small as 28 x 12. And we do this using 4-point welders on the sash and frame.

In our factory we put the rough side of obscure glass facing the inside of the house. We feel that using the smooth side of the glass gives the spacer and sealant a better chance to adhear to the glass.

I've looked at the first picture a few times and it just has not looked correct to me. I enlarged the picture and it appears that the inside piece of glass on the IG unit is missing. I'm not a fan of intercept but it does seem to me the spacer and dessciant are in such bad shape due to the glass not...

There is one thing that a lot of people , even the experts, miss on condensation on windows. The area on a double hung window at the meeting rail and also at the bottom lift rail act as shelves for cooler air to settle. This cooler area doesn't get the air flow and is a natural cool spot which can c...

I hate to see a window transported flat. On a large picture window it put a great deal of stress on the glass as it is bouncing up and down. The other problem is when you stack windows there is a lot of movement and what stacks neatly when you pick them up quickly become unstacked with the vehicle m...

I believe they still make one model with a mechanically fastened frame. I'm pretty sure they also make a line of fully welded products. I would suggest that you give them a phone call just to make sure you get the information you want. You would be amazed how bad a sample window can look after spend...

The current Mastic/Earthwise manufacturers use one of 3 spacer systems. The official spacer of our Earthwise is Super Spacer. A couple of our group use Intercept and a few use duraseal. The only members of our group who still use the Mastic name currently use either Intercept or Super Spacer. The on...
