Retractable screens for casements
Have Pella's Rolscreen retractable screens pasted the test of time? Do any other manufacturers have retractabe screens for their casements? It's handy and eliminates storage--a great idea if it works!

As always I truly appreciate your response to my questions. I am still educating myself and trying to figure out where the point of diminishing returns is concerning window technology for my specific needs. The main reason Heat Mirror appeals to me is that you can have 3 panes for the weight of 2. I...

Yeh, they put me thru the sales wringer alright! Here 3 1/2 hours the first time and 1/2 hour the second time. Both salesmen told me that I think too much. Too bad they are the only ones I know of locally who sale the Heat Mirror window. I got the Long Windows alleged sales manager to say that they ...

Has anyone had experience with Long Windows. They offer a great lifetime "no-nonsense" warranty on their Quantum2 product (Kensington Heat Mirror). It is transferable one time to the next home owner. If there are "any defects related to poor manufacturing or poor installation, as the ...

Solar gain debate
Oberon, in your Apr 19th post you made the following statement: “Personally, in Minniegal's environment, I would opt for higher quality triple pane, moderate solar gain windows on the south side, with the single LowE coating on surface 5. I would also include argon (wide air space) or krypton (narro...

Heat Mirror longterm durability
Is there any data on Heat Mirror windows and how they are standing up against time? One salesman told me that the designers did not intend for the plastic middle film to be standing alone without contact support or sandwiched between panes. He said that over time it becomes brittle and warps. Is the...

Spacer update?
The more I read the more confused I get. One report says you can get the Intercept with tin or stainless steel. But most ads just avoid the fact that is a metal spacer. I would say that the consensus seems to be that the EdgeTech SuperSpacer is the overall best. But, Cardinal XLEdge stainless steel ...
