Re: My Window Reviews for Massachusetts

+1 to pondscum's response. I'm very happy with my decision.

Re: My Window Reviews for Massachusetts

Thank you for the detailed review of windows available in MA -- it was very helpful. Did your restorations windows with the ultra kr90 option also cost you in the $450-$750 range you mentioned? Thanks. Yes. All the windows I had any serious interest in were in that range and included capping. So fa...

Sliding door not sliding

I have a slider that I've been having a lot of trouble opening lately. I've tried to clean up any debris on and around the track but that hasn't helped. Is this a matter of lubricating the wheels or is there something else I should be looking at?

Re: And for my next project...

Thanks. I appreciate the recommendation. I'm having a hard time finding a company that can install a micro-mesh guard and was considering one similar to the one you have. They seem to get decent reviews as well.

Re: And for my next project...

Thanks for the response. I heard similar thoughts on the reverse curve systems which is why I'm trying to find as much info as I can.

Is this kind of what you're talking about?

Anyone have any opinion on these?

And for my next project...

I know this has nothing to do with windows but does anyone have any opinions on any of the gutter guard systems out there? Or know of any good places to do some research? I'm having difficulty finding good info other than the marketing that the companies' produce.

Re: Sears replacement windows

You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't cancel and shop around. Replacing windows is an expensive job and you want to make sure you're getting exactly what you want with someone you feel comfortable with at a price that makes sense for you. If after shopping around you feel Sears is your ...

Re: Leaky Basement Hoppers - URGENT

Now that's an interesting idea. Thanks everyone for your advice. All I could do last night was dig out more of the dirt in the wells and use it to further slope the water away from the window areas. It rained about 4 or 5 inches in a very short amount of time yesterday, this on top of the fact the g...

Re: Leaky Basement Hoppers - URGENT

Much appreciated. I've never thought to put a sump pump in a window well before. I've only thought of them to be in basement floors. Anyway, I was hoping for a simpler, more immediate solution. It's literally rained here for a month so I really don't expect this to be an ongoing problem that would r...

Leaky Basement Hoppers - URGENT

It's been unusually rainy here and two of my basement hoppers have suddenly started leaking. My wife says it's like Niagara Falls. The caulking around the edges needs to be redone but I can't do that at the moment. Aside from making sure there hasn't been a huge build up of debris in the wells, is t...

Re: What other brands should I consider?

I don't know what you're budget is but I think you'll find Gorell, Soft Lite, and Simonton to all come in less than the Newpro quote and their quality is top-notch from what I can tell. I would second pondscum's recommendation that you look at Sunrise too, especially if you're looking to minimize gl...

Hiring Question

I have a verbal agreement with someone to do a job. He's been pretty responsive until recently. I emailed him last Monday to set up a time to sign the paperwork. He never responded so I called Friday. I forget what his excuse was but he said he'd email me this week and we'd take care of it mid week....

Re: My Window Reviews for Massachusetts

We would have liked to get the Ultra KR 90 triple pane in all the rooms but budget and function limited us to just the 8 bedroom and bathroom windows. One window is a 1/4 double hung, 1/2 picture, 1/4 double hung unit so technically we're replacing 10 with 8. In two other rooms we have 5 picture win...

Re: My Window Reviews for Massachusetts

Thanks, but I've already ordered my new windows. Besides, I did that already and all I got were links to car dealerships. I was just curious what I might have missed. Their website gave a few nice closeups but not a nice big full-on view of the window.

Re: My Window Reviews for Massachusetts

I'd love to see a close-up of an Okna to see what I'm missing.
