Re: Problem with Gorell slider door

I would check to see if the interlocks have bypassed. There seems to be a consistent gap the entire length of the meeting stile.

Re: help identifying new vinyl window

Unless they changed their policy, if a Gorell dealer stayed with Soft-Lite, they would honor the warranty. Lets hope that is the case.

Re: gorell replacement

This is Gorell's and others practice. First off the glass weighed over 100 pounds. They use door sash material to protect the frame for shipment. It sounds like the crew did a good job.

Re: How do you adjust a Gorell 5300 Series sash?

Gorell uses constant force balances. There is available an allen head set screw that threads into the primary/braking shoe in the jamb. The set screw is threaded into the shoe which spreads the two housings apart to create friction within the jamb. This should solve the problem. Your installer shoul...

Re: Tax Credit Legislation

After a little digging, this is what I came up with for the tax credit of 2011. Consumers can claim 10% up to $200.00 for energy star qualified windows and skylites, and 10% up to $500.00 for doors. Same as last year, the install cost is not included. There is now a lifetime limit of $500 ($200 for ...

Re: different size lites on picture window (replacement)

Were the grids in the fixed made to align with nearby double hungs? Also, the grid blocks may be different in size due to the possible difference in the master frame extrusion from the hungs to the fixed.

Out of curiosity, what was the AAMA test size of the Stanek DP70 product? What type of reinforcement is used?

Re: Replacement Picture Window

What is your approximate opening size? Are you envisioning a 1/4 - 1/2 - 1/4 configuration? In other words, is the picture window going to be double the width of the flanker double hungs?

Re: Lead free vinyl windows in USA

I cannot speak for all manufacturers, but if you are in the AAMA certification program, here is a requirement. The manufacturers Independant inspection agency stops by, unannounced 1 - 2 times per year. They check to see if your window and doors are built as tested, they check to see if you are labe...

Re: Help - Cheap windows need fixing

The label in the picture is the NFRC label. It lists the thermal values for that particular make up of glass combined with the framing material. There is a manufacturers code on the label, but I doubt that you would be able to see that unless the label is close up. Try opening the window and look fo...
