Re: Help on selection in Los Angeles
Mid range products Milgard, Simonton, Superior. ALL better than what you have listed IMO. Do not know much about Anlin but understand that they are in that same ball park that I have listed. Good Luck in your project.

Re: Block Windows vs Retrofit?
I might be wrong, but i think the poster is wanting a retro fit window that slips into an existing wood frame. In SoCal it is referred to as a block frame with a sloped sill install.

Re: Anlin windows
Anlin is a respected company here in South Cal. You could also try Superior, Simonton, Amerimax or Milgard no particular order. All can offer you sound deadening glass packages. Milgard is the only company of the group to offer a dedicated line of sound deadening products and is bulky. Good advise t...

Re: Window replacement
I am in the Los Angles area. I have not heard of Mercer in my area. Milgard, on the west coast, is well regarded and I am unaware of quality control 'problems' with that company. Ply-Gem is also well regarded. IF the sales person is ragging on a company about 'problems' maybe a bit of checking on yo...

Re: Windows in Az
I am not in the AZ area but in the Los Angeles area. You will be well served with either of the Milgard or Amerimax products. MI is at best a low end builders grade products, be careful. The Anderson 100 series might be the 'silver-line' offering from that company, be careful, as it is not well rega...

Re: fiberglass windows
you will not find In-Line in Ca. at all. Great window as I understand. Marvin Integrity is your best option in this area. Just my opinion. Can not believe you can not find a company that has a sample.

Re: fiberglass windows
here in the L.A. area, good choice for fiberglass clad product would be the Marvin Integrity. As to a window store being open Mon - Fri, this market is very competitive and you should be able to find many stores open on the weekends. Simonton will not be a good choice for new construction in our are...

Re: Any top contractor in San Francisco bay area?
I am in the L.A. area. Do not know about ComfortWorld products. Simonton does not have a nail on frame window suited for the West coast. You could try Milgard or Superior windows. They could fit into your budget. I do not know that the going rate for labor is up there. You will have to do some inter...

Re: BetterBilt windows???
3D Max the the low-e 3 glass that you NEED. It also has argon gas, that you might not need. Milgard does not use the foam spacer here in California, but might still use it in your area.

Re: BetterBilt windows???
Tuscany line. On your Simonton 5050 products, that series is not offered to my company on the West coast. The u-values and SHGC are adequate. If you have priced this from a 'box' store, keep shopping. Good Luck

Re: BetterBilt windows???
I am in the Los Angeles area. I do not know of the building market in your area. I do not think anyone on this board does either, as mentioned before. I am thinking that you are going to need 3-4 additional quotes on better window products. Simonton, Milgard are available in your area. These are mid...

They are out of Arizona. Builders grade at best. But the price is SO low. Solar has been in the window business for at least 15 years.

Re: Superior vs. Amsco windows
Of these 2 brands and models, I would recommend Superior Cornerstone for the warranty and service. Superior does not really do any advertising, but is a solid window. The Cornerstone is their budget offering. Read carefully the Amsco warranty.
