Is there any technical reason preventing a replacement window to be installed like a new construction window? Say if I want to match all the windows in my house, but want one window to have a full frame replacement?

Is the foam insulation used to seal during window installs the same insulation used by energy efficiency companies who (for example) seal rim joists in your home? At least three window installers have told me they don't "trust" foam. From what I understand -- and I could have misunderstood...

Not sure where exactly to post this question, but here it goes... I had a mason make an opening for a window in our block foundation. Guy, I found it very interesting you purposely order smaller windows. Our OKNA installer also offered to order 1/4" smaller windows if I was adamant on them sealing with foam.

The window already has foam around it, so there are no gaps between the window and the wood. Are you referring to the gaps between the wood and masonry?

This is where I get confused. Where would the foam be applied in this case? I can't even see any gaps?

I'm having this window installed in a new masonry opening. Would foam sealing be recommended in this sort of installation?
