How to see all my posts?

When I go to my User Control Panel and click "Show your posts", I get the error message:

Sorry but you are not permitted to use the search system.
Any way to fix this?

Re: Weepholes in an Okna 800 Slider

Glad to know air infiltration will not be an issue. Unfortunately, usability is still a huge issue for us. I would never purchase OKNA sliders again. *I* know that the other sash moves and make sure to push it in before locking. But when guests go to lock the sliders, since the lock "mechanisms...

Re: Importance of Foam Insulation

OSI, Dow, Hilti, Premier, Tremco, Soudal. OSI and Dow are readily available almost anywhere these days. The other manufacturers are kind of exclusive to tradesman. My local Home Depot here in Baltimore just this week started carrying the "Pro" line of DOW Window & Door foam, along wit...

Re: Weepholes in an Okna 800 Slider

The OKNA 800 sliders have far too much play in their sashes for our taste. I'm sure the weather stripping prevents any air infiltration, but it just doesn't "feel" right to me. About half the time we have to make sure the other slider sash is shut all the way before we can lock it; the oth...

Re: Importance of Foam Insulation

The insulation our window installer used something that looked like this. Original link for this sears.com/frost-king-sponge-rubber-foam-tape-3-4-in/p-03013321000P http://i.imgur.com/NtbUmpeb.jpg It might not have been the same thing. I distinctly recall him showing me how the insulation expands whe...

Re: Can replacement windows be installed like new construction

Thanks for all the information. I don't understand everything you guys wrote yet, but usually it sinks in after a while. I had all my windows replaced recently with OKNAs. The bottom part of the frame for one of the basement windows sits below grade. (The foundation is a foot below grade on that sid...

Can replacement windows be installed like new construction

Is there any technical reason preventing a replacement window to be installed like a new construction window? Say if I want to match all the windows in my house, but want one window to have a full frame replacement?

Re: Importance of Foam Insulation

Is the foam insulation used to seal during window installs the same insulation used by energy efficiency companies who (for example) seal rim joists in your home? At least three window installers have told me they don't "trust" foam. From what I understand -- and I could have misunderstood...

Re: Providing support while making masonry opening

Thanks. (I changed the picture to a better one of just the masonry opening without the window.)

Providing support while making masonry opening

Not sure where exactly to post this question, but here it goes... I had a mason make an opening for a window in our block foundation. I didn't see him using anything to support the weight above the opening. Also, the lintels weren't installed until the second day; i.e., the opening was left overnigh...

Thanks, HomeSealed. I was actually talking about the spacer. Can't keep all the concepts and terms straight in my head sometimes.

Re: Importance of Foam Insulation

Guy, I found it very interesting you purposely order smaller windows. Our OKNA installer also offered to order 1/4" smaller windows if I was adamant on them sealing with foam.

Re: Importance of Foam Insulation

The window already has foam around it, so there are no gaps between the window and the wood. Are you referring to the gaps between the wood and masonry?

Re: Importance of Foam Insulation

This is where I get confused. Where would the foam be applied in this case? I can't even see any gaps?

Re: Importance of Foam Insulation

I'm having this window installed in a new masonry opening. Would foam sealing be recommended in this sort of installation?
