Re: windows available in Seattle WA
I looked at the Simonton 7500 and the installer said they only come "double hung" which makes it more difficult to get a good seal. Not sure if this makes sense. Maybe what he was really thinking is that I wouldn't pay the price for the higher end window because our house is not fancy. He ...

Re: windows available in Seattle WA
Thanks for your suggestions. I will look into these other options with Simonton. I'm really ready to make a choice and get this project going. We waited a bit longer than we should have to upgrade our windows because we thought we would be moving...

Re: windows available in Seattle WA
I can't tell you how thankful I am for the information you all provide. I'm sure I am not the first person you've saved from spending thousands of dollars on the wrong product. I will keep looking.

Re: windows available in Seattle WA
Below is part of an explanation that a salesman sent me after I raised concerns regarding a DP value of "15" for two sliders, and "20" for two single hung windows. We have had wind gust over 75 mph hit our front windows in the past. Plus we are in "earthquake" country s...

Re: windows available in Seattle WA

Re: windows available in Seattle WA
Yes, I was shocked too figuring they wouldn't be great but not that bad. I haven't checked the Milgard DP for all the different types but will give them a call and get back online to post the comparison. The Milgard estimator told me their DP value was 30, but I didn't ask which window style he was ...

Re: windows available in Seattle WA
I have gotten several bids; Milgard, Simonton, and Comfort Design to replace 9 aluminum windows with vinyl. All three are within a few hundred dollars of each other. The Milgard Tuscany is too much vinyl to look good on our house and Comfort Design is a local company that had to be bailed out during...

Re: windows available in Seattle WA
Will research installers and get their input on the best windows. Previously I was told to find windows that work best in our area and then ask the manufacturer for their recommendation for an installer but I think your suggestion makes more sense. Thanks.

Re: windows available in Seattle WA
We were thinking vinyl but would consider aluminum if that would be better. Our house faces south from which we get strong winds (70 mph gusts) and rain in the winter. Ours is just a modest house but one we will stay in for the duration and then pass on to one of our daughters. We will pay for good ...

Is Milgard a good brand?
Are Milgard vinyl windows reliable? I don't think Okna is available in the Seattle area. I am replacing 10 windows and plan to stay in the house long term.

windows available in Seattle WA
We will be replacing 10 old aluminum windows and a slider and have been reading your site for the last two days. Thank goodness I found you. I had no idea what was involved. I haven't seen anyone mention the Pacific Northwest. Any recommendations for our area? I have asked the Okna company if they h...
