Re: replacement casement window options?
I'm sure you could get all of those products in your area & it looks like your considering some good choices.... Going to a homeshow is a great way to see products almost side by side and get a feel for the quality of each. I would start there. Im a big fan of the design of the Sunrise casements...

Re: Expectation vs. Reality
I’d recommend calling the company and verify they were ordered the NRG glass. They could have made a mistake. You may also be able to tell a difference of the inner pane and outer pane by tapping on the glass as one is thicker than the other and theoretically sound different. There are numerous vari...

Re: Provia vs. Seaway
They're may be a few different options other than sliders such as double hungs or casements. I agree with you sliders are my least favorite of pretty much all the styles for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they are the best option for certain situations such as sizing of your window openings. If you...

Re: which side is the bead on?
Its sometimes visible to the eye on the opposite side of the glazing bead. I wouldn't plan on removing the IGU taking it to the shop and reinstalling it unless your ok with having plywood in place of the glass for however long it takes to get one made. If its wet glazed id give you about a 5-10% of ...

Re: Opinions on Sunrise/Vanguard Interior Laminates
I've done a few job with their Paintable/Stainable interior laminate. It comes in a pine laminate material and can be painted any color for that "wood" feel. This is as close as you're going to get and has turned out great each time someone wants the look and finish of natural wood. Also I...

Re: After Install Questions
It wouldn't hurt to send them the photos to ask them to clean it up a bit when they come back out.... I wouldn't wait until they come back to address the missing window as they will be unprepared and may put up more resistance. Other than not being insulated I'd say overall those things are very eas...

Re: Install Gone Wrong - Non-paintable Silicone
Could they just put some new wood trim over top of the silicone and you paint that. I see the weep holes on the windows so not sure 1/4" would work but I know the box stores have 1/4" thick wood in varying sizes. Replacing the wood is overkill and doesn't seem like a reasonable solution to...

Re: Replacement quotes for 1960s brick ranch
Here is what I can tell you about vinyl Kraft especially the legacy. I’ll speaks volumes to me when there were multiple companies in my markets who advertise $189 installed. I’m sure we’ve all seen those ads before. They pretty much all use vinyl Kraft legacy. I think the Alside product is light yea...

Re: MI Windows & Doors /Sunrise acquisition
I have 2 bays and a bow in my warehouse house now and they look excellent. I haven't had or seen any issues with the switch of vendors. Sunrise was making their own bay/bow frames in house but they started to outsource them like most companies do these days. like I said no qc issues so far for me

Re: Okna 500, 800 vs Sunrise Restoration
BTW Sunrise has a .02 air infiltration rating and is an excellent window. In the southern Ohio area we have no issues with the surface 4 low e. I don't have Okna in my market so I can't comment on them other than they are well regarded. Y0u have some great options and don't think you could go wrong ...

Re: Guidance on leaking double window
Its factory made that way. A poor design yes. It looks like you can access it from the exterior, If it were me I would back the screw out and fill the whole with caulk then put the screw back in and cover with caulk.

Re: Guidance on leaking double window
It's been a while since I have installed or had much to do with Alside windows but I believe they may run screws in a mull plate at the bottom of the window through the sill. At least they did 2008-2010. The location of the leak in the center bottom would suggest to me it has to do with the weep dra...

Re: OKNA 500 windows and Noise
Caulking: A different caulk would not make a measurable difference. If the some areas of caulking were missed and new Lastly, this is a pretty silly question but one that we often encounter, make sure that the windows are fully closed and locked. There is an extra "click" to fully seat th...
