Re: Bainbridge Windows
That is an insane price for that product. Look at some of the other installs this guy or his crew has done. Evaluate their work.
The fact that the guy doesn't know his arse from a hole in the wall is not uncommon for sales people.

Re: Bainbridge Windows
While he gave you a steal of a price on the Bainbridge window at around, the fact that he said "R" factor doesn't matter as long as it is under 0.30 gives me pause. I guess if that were the case, they should just stop measuring below U-Factor of 0.30. The Bainbridge window is certainly com...

Re: Does this price seem right for Softlite Element installation
The Elements window line is one of the top two window lines available today in my opinion. Those windows are massive and that pricing is pretty good on a much more modestly sized window. I think that you are more than safe with that quote. Triple pane would be nice if you can swing it, but the Eleme...

They sell to a whole bunch of people. I wouldn't count on any exclusiveness unless you can deliver a whole bunch of volume.

Re: Energy savings worth replacement windows?
How much glass in the home between all the windows. The ideas of 40% energy savings are over exaggerations promoted by window manufacturers but depending on the amount of glass that you have and the condition of your existing windows, you will notice a comfort increase and energy consumption decrease.

Re: Do vinyl windows expand?
Yes they do. All windows expand and contract. The expansion rates of vinyl are typically overblown and touted as a design flaw by other material manufacturers (i.e. fiberglass, clad, etc window producers). In a 6ft patio door, the lineal (long section of the door) might expand or contract the thickn...

Re: Questions for marvin infinity installers (or any installer)
Oh, clad unit. Most here are wood at that age. No brick mould, Clad frame, vinyl siding: we are going to loosen the siding, remove the existing window, flash the sill, install the full frame Infinity with silicone behind the nailing fin, except at the bottom, cover the nail fin with 8" protect...
