In fiberglass they offer only the three colors you mention. With InLine fiberglass you have five standard colors and they will do any color and split finish...

Was vinyl or trim coil used to finish the edges?
Clear or colored caulk?

If I can I do a 5/16 x 5/16 hem , cut to fit, then back caulk the hem before insrting into groove, normally no nails needed.
Baby once that silicone sets up you can hardly remove that coil if you want to.

I would agree that following the manufacters guidelines are best. There are many times when we do things and types of installs not covered by those "guidelines". To date in 30 years I have only had one window judged misinstalled. Not lucky, just skilled. But I do suggest we all do it right...
