Re: Is this forum boycotting reliabuilt windows?

These windows are a very good value in the their price range.I have installed the 3201's and 3500's only.If you are just going with white I would get the 3201's.The 3201's also have better air infiltration numbers then the 3500's.These windows may be found cheaper under different rebadged Atrium bra...

Re: Lead Safe Renovating Charge?

I will be doing my first tomorrow.I have been doing regulated lead work since about 1994.I am not required to be RRP certified on regulated jobs because all of the rules are more strict than RRP rules.I could have a full lead risk assessment and clearance test at $1700.I will have clearance samples ...

Re: Lead Safe Renovating Charge?

I would say $1700 is a rip for the renovation charge.I would opt-out and do my own cleaning for $1700.They could make $88000 a year for doing one 10 window job a week in RRP charges alone and another $104000-$131000 a year on labor installing 10 windows a week.Is the price for an insert or full tear...

Re: EPA's Lead safe work practices - opt out

I know of 2 window manufacture's that shut down there in-house installs down completely because of the liability. These rules will apply even if you are doing 1 storm window from the exterior.

Re: Best aluminum window/gerkin 5000 vs Provia

Didn't have a lot of time to research and the Provia's didn't come with a nailing fin. The customer also already had a bid with the Gerkin's. so it was a apples to apples bid. They will be installed in 4-6 weeks.

Re: Which windows for sunroom

The Anderson storm windows are an aluminum combination storm that would be installed instead of the screen. It would remain year round and would also protect your window.I believe the 200 and 400 series have a vinyl coated frame but the sashes are painted, at least on the 200's for sure(a very high q...

Best aluminum window/gerkin 5000 vs Provia

Looking for opinions on which is a better window.I have a customer who wants aluminum window for his apartment complex. Most of the windows will be 3-lite picture sliders with a few sliders and double hungs or single hungs. The Gerkins are the 5000 Rhino series and the Provias only have one model.

Re: Which windows for sunroom

The Anderson window should also have a very low air infiltration # with a storm.Post the air #'s of all the window if you can.You could possibly pet another brand of storm windows on to save a little more money, could void the warranty though. The acoustic #'s would also be greatly improved with a st...

Re: Simonton 9800, Alside Sheffield, Others? Cost?

Sometimes locks can be hard to close if the windows were installed out of square. It is not uncommon for single pane windows with good weatherstripping and good storms to out- perform new windows in air infiltration #'s.Also check the sightlines between the sashes and frames are equal and fairly tigh...

Re: Illinois Gorrell vs Jel -win at menards

Our local Home Depot does sell Simonton,The Reliabuilt from Lowes is a decent window for the money. There are alot of local small shops and siding companies that sell many different brands of windows but don't usually advertise all that they sell.
