I wasn't aware that "White Castle" was in the replacement window business? I hope their windows are better than their horrible tasting artery clogging tiny burgers! Seriously, I have a colleauge that just started with Castle as a sales rep. He keeps himself sort of up to date on what is ou...

For 2005 Great Lakes changed the names of their different series of windows. For a long time they had the Monitor, Gold, and their top of the line Plygem Series. After making all types of changes to the windows including options that are available, they simply started fresh with new names. When I so...

dhkatch, I think the Impressions 9800 is their best model? I think the 9800 uses 1" spacing with the Superspacer and the availability for triple glazing. I like this window a lot. I really think what makes dealing with most vinyl manufacturers less stressful for dealers and customers is a high ...

Earwax, If Silveline is a neon, what what Patriot and Capital be? My guess would be a 85 Yugo and a 72 Pinto?

There is dealer in my area that is getting almost $800 per opening installed for the lowest end Silverline window with their model home pitch. If I could only get their pitch misses?

Before we picked up Sunrise I showed my sales rep some of the posts about the doublehungs with the "shoe" problem. He did some research and told us that they had a bad batch or a design problem with the shoe and had corrected the problem. Did they, or was it and off the cuff answer. I do n...

Windowman PA, If they stuck me on quality control in that plant I would probily have a nervous breakdown in about a week, or they could shoot a sequal to that movie with Michael Douglas "Falling Down II The firing in Bensalem." We have had good luck recently with Accuweld, I'll keep my fin...

Sounds a little high to me. Did they use a first call close or model home program? The DH units we install from Accuweld would run a lot less, but if we had to recover the cost of a ton of advertising and commissions, I could see $475.00 to $575.00 depending on grids and vinyl color. This window has...

My friend sells Plygem and Uniframe, he has over 25 years in the industry and is a fountain of knowlege. He dislikes the Uniframe! It's a little to much vinyl for most folks. It is also very expensive. Plygem are very good windows. There may be some better windows out there, but not by much. Out of ...

Window4U,
Thanks, that is a neat name. One of my friends that I don't work with anymore called it a "liquid weld." I was like, what the heck does that mean? Do they poor hot melted vinyl in there, or did you make that up after watching Terminator 2?

Fritz, That price sounds really accurate. I sell several series of the Great Lakes windows. Unfortunately, I'm not quite qualified by Great Lakes to carry the Plygem line just yet because we just took over an existing business that didn't do at least 250k per year in wholesale orders. I do, however ...

Window4u, I have a whole bunch of samples with all the things I hate about low budget windows in the back of my shop as well. It seems when I'm not around some newbie sales rep leaves an old sample his boss told him to toss out in my store in hopes that somehow I'll be so impressed that I'll just wa...
