Re: Simonton, Sunrise, Sheffield
All of the bays, bows, gardens, casements, awnings, and picture units, and patio doors from Sunrise will all be pretty much the same product. So, there will not really be any difference from the regular Sunrise line up to the Vanguard and Restorations pertaining to those types of windows. You may ge...

Re: Sugarcreek Softlite Windows
Both Soft-Lite and Sugarcreek/Integra (now ProVia) make several lines of windows. Their upper lines are both very good. The Integra window is something that I've carried for years but never really sold, as it's high price never made it a good value compared to some of the other brands that we offer....

Re: Simonton, Sunrise, Sheffield
The Vanguard series from Sunrise is second from the top. Sunrise has a series called "Restorations" that is their flagship. Vanguard was basically introduced to accomidate some of the old Great Lakes accounts in which they had wanted to compete with the Plygem series. Plygem was Great Lake...

Re: window world, america's windows, air-tite...questions!
So let me get this straight. Consumers Digest has tested and rated all vinyl windows. Not likely!!! That would be impossible for them to do. I don't practice negative selling or trying to throw anyone under the bus, but it's not very hard to discredit WW. Just obtain some of the DH window samples an...

Re: Sunrise Windows
The foam inside the jambs that one clearly sees as the jamb screws are about to go in has always been green, my last batch was pink. Hummmmmmmmmm???? Couldn't have anything to do the that darn "Pink Panther" and the OC deal with Sunrise could it? On another note, Sunrise took their standar...

Re: Sunrise Windows
The Restoration Series from Sunrise is usually reserved for the high-end window dealers. Sunrise started putting a new latch release system like the Elements by Soft-Lite on the Restoration.

Re: Replacement of vinyl windows THV/THERMALINE/ROLOX
It is very hard to get an honest heat lamp demo. Most sales reps have glass packs with clear insulated (no low-e and argon), regular low-e and argon, triple-glazed clear or with low-e and argon, and of course their "super" and exclusive energy effecient glass package. What they don't tell ...

Re: replacement window quotes/can you cap in winter?
The Great Lakes Uniframe and Plygem if they are even called these names since the revamping of their line up back in 2005/2006 do cost a lot more than anything from Silverline or Superseal. If the Windowrama guy doesn't see the difference in quality between Great Lakes and those brands he clearly do...

Re: replacement window quotes/can you cap in winter?
Windowrama has several stores in high rent locations that I pass in my travels. They have great looking store fronts with the huge "Marvin" and "Andersen" names and logos all over the roof signs. When you look into the store you see bay windows with cooper roofs and hand stained ...

Re: what insulation does everyone use ???
low-expansion foam from either Dow, OSI, or Hilti. Under the sill 100% of the time. On some installs I'll use a combination of spray foam, fiberglass and Lamatek either foam. Since Lamatek is only about 25 minutes from me, I have had them make me rolls of all different thickness and width. Sometimes...

Re: Advice on Accu weld replacement windows
Thanks, Dave. I tried to reply to this ASAP from my I-phone as I'm on a commercial project for several months working 12-16 hours a day. I'm sorry that I wasn't very clear about not being a Simonton or Certinteed guy. Your clarification was 100% correct. We as dealers can only take on so many differ...

Re: Advice on Accu weld replacement windows
Sorry, I've never heard of Semco. There are so many brands out there these days. I just saw a bid for Accu-Weld Epoch 2300's in North Philly for $285.00 a window with capping. I know what that window costs. What scares me about a price like this is how little the installer is making unless a private...

Re: Advice on Accu weld replacement windows
Of course the price seems good. It's a $125 window. And that's $125 too much. Don't mean to be a hater that is negative without cause. Their product lines all fail really fast. Bad glazing techniques at the factory, bad gas filling, terrible engineering of the interlocking systems, cracked welds at ...

Got a call from some window installers from my home town that work for Lowes. The local Lowes in my area had been selling Survivor in additional to the Thermastar vinyl products. No more orders for Survivor!!!!!!!

Re: How tightly should a repalcement window fit?
I think the OKNA Starmark with "Windjammer" and the Truseal spacer does get a U-factor of .25 on double. With Woodgrains and the stainable laminate interior I believe the stickers that I saw were like .26. I'm sorry, that spacer may have some impressive edge of glass tempuratures, but it's...
