Re: Replacing panes in old windows with double pane low e

rmit, The units would have a warranty against seal failure. Of more conern to me is that you are going to try and just caulk them in. Most all mfg have a stop to hold the glass in place, even old putty glazed single panes have glazing points. Yuo must make sure that the IG unit is compatible with an...

I do not remember which is equal but you need to be at the reflection 5500 series level at least then get a comparable glazing package.

Re: Should I tip?

As others have stated if you water them and snack them a little they will appreciate it and go an extra mile for you.
Remember you get more flies with honey than without it.
If you are pleased with the work when they are done $10 to each and they should be grateful.

Re: Need help deciding

Well, I would say never have HD or any other big box do your project, to much of a crap shoot, also price is higher than getting the best local independant. You do have a bit of a can of worms with the stucco, so it is very important that you trust the installer and what they will do to stop any wat...

Re: Need help in Canada

If you are not strongly drawn to wood then vinyl will be a great choice.
You want to talk to more local people who are aware of the best products in your local.
Can you tell the difference between BS and truth?
If so follow that meter to the right person to do your project with the right product.

It is weird that you can not get the most accurate and up to date info from the mfg web sites.

Re: Energy savings

You will need to be much more specific for us to help you.
What are the spec on the Andersen unit? Model , sizes, attributes, etc.
We can help in general, but the nitty gritty is best teased out by your local professional installer/contractor.

She has it all figured out.
She seems to speaking at times about thermal exspansion in the IG spacer.
As for the other, I have been in the industry for 30 years and have not seen any problems with exspansion in mid to high quality units.

Re: Structural performance: Simonton, Gorell, Soft-Lite

If you have a great glass package and bad infiltration it will not feel good.
But you are right about a blind fold. Is there a discernable difference? It is a blend of fit, function, beauty, and budget.
Being the consumer you get to pick the blend that is rigth for you.
