risaiah, you seem to be pretty smart and you're on the right track. First, you realize that you get what you pay for and are prepared to pay a fair price for a good window with professional installation. This means that you should pretty much ignore the comments of "homeowner", who for som...

We installl 70% of our windows into brick openings, and we do spray expanding foam into the cavity between the brick and the house sheathing. Brick veneer homes have weep holes to allow moisture to escape from behind the brick. Those same weep holes allow cold air to move around behind the brick dur...

Actually what I said was "all of the homeowners and installers on this board who believe that the RBA window is a poorly made window ", which is a key distinction Researcher. The problem here is that homeowners come to this forum to ask for professional opinions before making a window purc...

I'm actually happy to hear that your RBA windows aren't leaking air, and I hope they never do. It is a real shame when a homeowner spends their hard-earned money on new windows and end up disappointed with the durability and or performance. Especially when they overpaid to begin with. However, it so...

The truth. Well the truth is that once a homeowners buys the RBA window and has them installed, they become obnoxious and spend an inordinate amount of time on a window discussion web site defending their decision to buy overpriced windows that leak air like crazy. Why do RBA purchasers do this? Mis...

I've never heard of the Integra window, but as to the Alside UltraMax; go with the Sheffield, same window with a sloped sill instead of the pocket sill. Better ratings on air leakage and better for keeping the water out. You might ask your contractor how much he would charge you to upgrade to the Cl...

Selling something out of a retail store, where the customer picks an item off the shelf and proceeds to a cash register is one thing. Installing a product in a customer's home is another. This is why Home Depot will sell a piece of junk window to a customer who wants to pick it off the shelf and ins...

Yeah I wouldn't pay the $2500.00 yearly for the online version, but I'd pay $400.00 for the mailed copy.

The NFRC labels should be applied to the glass on the windows. If they removed them prior to arrival at your house, I would be suspicious. The Low-E/Argon are most likely in the glass, but you might not have gotten the Super Spacer that you paid extra for. When you look at the spacer betwee the glas...

Are you looking at Amsco's new composite window or their vinyl window?
I don't know anything about them, I'm just curious about your impressions. Their new composite window is supposed to be very similar to the Andersen Renewal line.

Yes, he installing company should know the type of spacer used in the window. As to Milgard and argon gas, it depends on where you are, and which plant your windows are coming from. Being in Oregon, since the windows will not have to traverse the Rocky Mountains, I would say yes Argon will be includ...

In terms of window quality, they are pretty equal, with one caveat. If the Certainteed window has Swiggle Seal Spacer, then the Milgard window has the better glass unit. Milgard uses Intercept which is marginally better than the Swiggle Seal Spacer. In terms of warranty, Milgard is clearly better, s...

Double strength glass is always a good investment since it reduces the odds of stress cracks and accidental breakage. If it is an option, you might upgrade to the aluminum reinforced meeting rails as well to increase strength of the window.
