Re: window choices

I'd recommend saving some more clams if you can't get a good product. You are spending thousands here, and on what is probably your largest investment. Not the place to go cheap.

Re: Disappointed

Did you know that car sales is one of the lowest margin industries that there is? Car salesmen make more on monthly bonuses for quality service surveys than they do on the commission of selling the vehicle because there just isn't much money in it. Why do I say that? Similar industry. Most consumers...

Re: Searaching for Enerlux installer for NW Washington, DC

That is a red flag IMO. Have you researched that manufacturer other than the product itself? I have no other info beyond what a google search reveals, but looks a little dicey. There is nothing notable about that product that would make it worth the risk in my opinion, but its only an opinion of cou...

Re: Searaching for Enerlux installer for NW Washington, DC

You may have a difficult time finding an outfit based on the way that you are approaching this. Anyone that is qualified to take on a 100 unit plus project is going to want to source the product themselves, and with an appropriate markup. Frankly, you should want this as well, so when something goes...

Well, they are much cheaper than a mid grade window and they are called Window Mart. Is there anything about that that inspires confidence? May as well be window barn.

Re: Am I being ripped off? Please help

26 windows for $9k is $346 per window. In my estimation, you didn't get ripped off, you got what most people get that pay a price like that thinking that they got a great deal. A crappy window, and shady tactics from a company. You can put a different sticker on a dog turd and its still a dog turd. ...

Re: Alside 8000 Series

There are exceptions to every rule, and the mexxo is the a rare exception to rule that numbers and quality go together in my opinion. If you physically compare that window to other high end models you can see and feel a distinct difference. How did they achieve a high dp number when until recently t...

Re: VinWinTech???

I'd also recommend looking at some higher end options. Vinyl windows occassionally get a bad rap, and it is because of all of the low end stuff on the market

Agree with the others. It should not be a point of emphasis, or even much of a consideration really.

Re: Questions about vinyl replacement install

Don, I'd argue that you only got one of the 3. PRICE. It is widely known that bargain based companies like that pay their installers less than the going rate. Maybe somebody said the things that you were looking to hear, but it would not be shocking if that individual wasn't even with the company by...

Re: Recommended NJ Window Installers

Can't say that I'd group stanek in with those others. Nice performance numbers, but very bulky and with a pocket sill. They were also purchased out of BK by Great Day, so all of their products before 2013 have no warranty.

Re: Recommended NJ Window Installers

Anyone that installs Silverline will neither be expensive, nor recommended.
Not sure how anyone would come to search out that product option. Cheap as they come, bad performance ratings, and sold only at home depot. Not a winning combo
