Re: Leaning towards Sheffield, need advice

Dazed:

Try Simonton's Dealer locator http://www.simonton.com/TopMenu/Locator/

I entered a zip code of 80012 and I came up with several distributors in the Denver area; I would be very surprised if none of them had additional samples.

Good Luck

Re: Leaning towards Sheffield, need advice

I doubt he was looking at the Prism Platinum that would be the equivalent to the Reflections 5500. I don’t think anyone would view that window as being cheap looking or feel the Sheffield was superior in design or appearance. The 5500 beats the Sheffield hands down. I have a feeling he was looking a...

Re: Simonton or Sunrise (and other quotes)

I sell the 5050, 5500 & 9800 that all have glass packages that qualify for the energy tax credit. I checked the order entry system and to my surprise there is not a qualifying glass package for the 5300. I assume they feel they have enough windows that qualify and can not justify the cost of tes...

Re: Simonton Quality Control Issues????

Simonton just launched for the 5500 Series new hardware options and new laminate wood grains. Along with the new wood grains white is now available on the inside of the Driftwood and Tan Colors. This is an excellent addition because we had many people who liked these colors on the outside but they d...

Re: Simonton Quality Control Issues????

We have not seen any quality issues since Fortune Brands purchased Simonton and the statement “running the company into the ground” is nonsense if anything I am very excited about what is in the pipeline for the future. You hit the nail on the head Sky; the large distributor in NY who will remain na...

Re: Structural performance: Simonton, Gorell, Soft-Lite

Simonton Lists their air infiltration data in a form that is difficult to understand. For one they are posting the numbers on huge double hung windows in sizes that no one has in their home with various different design pressure ratings some with solid sill plugs and some with slotted sill plugs. Yo...

Re: Simonton, Sunrise, Sheffield (Price quotes inc)

Simonton is the only window we have offered for the last ten years and with very rare exception we only receive positive feed back regarding the performance of the windows, even the lower end 5050 series. We are located in what is considered the beginning of north Jersey so we do get the cold weathe...

Re: window cost/ installation cost - so many window brands

I’m in New Jersey and familiar with Ideal. I would go with Great Lakes over Ideal; there never as been anything special coming from Ideal.

I would focus on the bottom line cost that you are ultimately paying and not focus on the material and labor split.

Re: Simonton 9800 Impressions window frame question

He’s asking about the casement frame WOW

The main frame on the casement is ¾” wide on the outside where the sash closes into it. The sash will hit when you crank it open.
