Re: Changes to Starmark 900

I see so many things wrong with that photo and no matter what brand that is I’m sure we can agree those issues started with that installation. That was someone’s first attempt at installing windows Bad install for sure. Pretty sure that doesn't have anything to do with the Sunrise sill looking like...

Re: Window Comparisons for Home getting ready for resale

If the mezzo is your most expensive option, you should start from scratch. If you are selling soon, either don't replace the windows, or at least go for something mid grade or better

Re: Changes to Starmark 900

The more I see the sunrise window, the less I like it. I hear absolute horror stories from their dealers. Seems like lots of chaos over there and it has been for a few years now. Publicly they say all is wonderful, I guess you have to if that is the window that you sell, but it sure seems like they...

Re: Replace Sash or whole unit

There is almost no circumstance where it makes sense to spend money on 18 year old builder grade windows. You've already cheated the window reaper by getting them to last this long. Start looking at replacement, even if you try to squeeze a little more time out o them.

Not a big Simington fan. At this point they are the next in a line of companies that had a good product and rep, but sold out and we all know where that leads

Re: Price recommendation for OKNA

Price sounds very fair to me. You mentioned that you paid less in the past, but keep in mind that the cost of labor is on a path straight up over the past couple of years. Materials certainly don't get any cheaper either. Windows on Washington seems to be the man to see in your neck of the woods.

Re: Ideal majestic window

Really?.. Its one of the heaviest window we have ever installed. The Majestic is made of some of the highest quality pvc i have ever seen. Wow, I didn't realize that weight = quality. This makes window shopping much easier for homeowners, all they need to do is throw it on a scale! The old Gorell 5...

Re: Help with my brand alternatives in Youngstown, OH

I'd avoid Thermal IMO. The bones of the window are solid like Delwarae said, but Thermal seems to be filing bankruptcy or reorganizing annually and the quality control is not impressive in my experience

I'm not sure what leads you to belive those were high quality in their day. Nothing special at all, I've been replacing similar units for years now.

Re: Zen Nirvana or Revere Bershire Elite windows?

Neither. The Berskshire/mezzo is far less of a window than its stats and so-so reviews suggest. The Softlite classic brings up the bottom of what is a pretty good product lineup above it. More importantly though I've heard that vendor compared to a ponzi scheme and not many industry professionals ex...
