Window comparisons
Re: Window comparisons
Tudor houses , at least here are beautiful but they all seem to have no overhang which makes the building components prone to water damage. I would want to know what they are going to do with Exterior trim since you have different things going on in the dirt vs the second picture. I’d also would want to know what they are going to do with the arched tops and the casing that is flush with stucco. Any interior pics?
Re: Window comparisons
Interior pics. Exterior trim to be replaced and wrapped/covered in aluminum Not sure what we can really do about lack of overhang. We took tree/shrubs out that used to touch the windows/trim and am hoping that along with wrapped trim (as opposed to wood) and clad exterior (as opposed to true wood exterior) will help.the arched portion of the casing seems to be in good shape and looks like there is actually a drip edge but they bent it to wrap around the casing so maybe having it bent up to extend out would help. The actual installer will come out prior to final order so maybe there are certain questions I should ask?

Re: Window comparisons
Based on the pics it looks like the original frames are long gone, in which case full frames do make more sense. It looks like the original interior woodwork may be long gone as well though, so I'd opt for everything new inside and out if it were me.

Re: Window comparisons
Thanks again everybody. Pulled the trigger on the Marvins. Hopefully no sunrises when I meet with the installer in a week or so. Will post some pics once completed. Sounds like window orders are quite a ways out.

Your job will be all about the details. The interior should be straight forward as long as they get there jamb extensions right. I think the exterior will be the most difficult if they are keeping the the Arched header casing since it is more difficult to wrap in aluminum and getting a drip cap in there is key especially in a Tudor. I think the casing should be built out so it does sit flush with the stucco as it is now. I would love to see pics of the exterior once there done hopefully not to criticize but to learn . Even though I consider myself a “professional “ I joined this forum to better myself and the other members here are great and keep me sharp.
Re: Window comparisons
Work is almost done so figured I would post a few follow up pics. Of course, as is always the case with an old house, ran into a little issue so interior trim had to be removed. Now I’ve got to find someone to repair some of the crumbled plaster walls before the trim can go back up, hopefully not too expensive. I asked about just getting new trim and they didn’t think that would be cost effective given that it is custom.
