We recently bought an 75 years old brick house in NW Illinois (Palatine), we are in the process of getting estimates for replacing all (lots of them) the windows in the house.
We've pretty much settled for vinyl double-hungs. There are a total of 34 windows (different sizes) in the house including 8 in the basement.
The estimate for the Alside E8000 (top-of-the-line, Krypton filled, triple pane with wood grain finish in the interior) came up to about 25k. The estimate for the Excalibur (lower quality, double pane, low E glass, argon filled) came up to around 20k.
I'd like to get your comments regarding the price range and the quality of Alside.
We will be getting estimates shortly from Gorell and hopefully Schuco. How does Alside rank compare to Gorell and Schuco?
