Fiberglass and Vinyl windows installation

#1 Post by NYS12 »

We are looking at the Marvin Infinity and Okna 800 windows and have a question regarding the installation process. These windows would be installed as replacement inserts in our home. Are fiberglass and vinyl framed windows installed the same way, and are they weatherized the same as well regarding sealing around the windows?

If the same installer was installing both windows, they should be the same.

+1. No difference in installation from one product to another.

Same installation method options.

Slightly different performance ratings at the end of the day.

Good point....
NY, I know that you did not ask for opinions on product, but you have two very different choices there. Each is great in its own right, but depending on your priorities, there should be a clear winner one way or the other. Based on your concerns of sealing and performance, the Okna is significantly better in both u-value and air infiltration. It will be the more efficient choice. If on the other hand aesthetics are of paramount importance and you'd like a custom stained interior, the Infinity is better. If the latter is the case, you could also check out the Starmark and get the best of both.
