Simonton Quality Control Issues????

#1 Post by dtownjbrown »

I visited three different Simonton dealers/installers in my area in two days and all of them made comment about the company's "recent" quality control issues. One of them even said that they have four different customers all waiting on new sashes (one of which has been waiting for six weeks). All of them carry the Prism Line but only one carries the Reflections & Impressions lines.....so Im wondering if this is just a flaw with a particular product. Any feedback from recent Simonton customers on what they purchased and how it's "holding up" would be very much appreciated. Thanks :-)

Simonton quality and service have taken a big hit ever since Simonton was sold to Fortune Brands in 2006. They really are running the company into the ground...... they (meaning Fortune Brands and Simonton) lost Sears national account along with a very big distributor in NY and countless others...... wait until the screw up their largest account in the country , which is Norandex. Its all very sad, because they use to be the best window company out there and it went bad very quickly. Good job Fortune Brands..... Bravo!
BUY WINCORE ... THEY ARE ALL FORMER SIMONTON PEOPLE WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING SIMONTON TO WHERE THEY WERE IN 2006 AND THEY HANDLE SERVICE AND QUALITY THE WAY SIMONTON USE TO. BEST VINYL WINDOW OUT THERE.

While I know the history on WinCore...they still have quite a bit to go before they are going to get people to switch brands.

Wouldn't it be nice, if just once a Wincore salesman could come on here, establish some credibility, and then explain to us the benefits of purchasing a Wincore product? Instead of the "Animal House Tactics" we get which typically include the same old "Simonton sucks since Fortune Brands bought them" Wincore is sooo great, nanny nanny boo boo!!!

I honestly don't understand why they think this type of tactic would make a consumer interested in a Wincore product when in fact it makes Wincore sales people look like whiney little immature brats.

So....unsolicited WinCore plug aside, is it true that Simonton has had some quality control issues as of late and if so, how have they handled them?

We haven't had any unusual quality control issues with Simonton since they were sold to Fortune Brands. Usually the only time I hear about problems with Simonton it's from someone who is trying to justify their switch from Simonton to another brand. Sometimes it's because their account is 90 days past due and their line of credit has been cut off so they bash Simonton to deflect blame. We have never had anything but the highest level of customer service from Simonton.

We have not seen any quality issues since Fortune Brands purchased Simonton and the statement “running the company into the ground” is nonsense if anything I am very excited about what is in the pipeline for the future.

You hit the nail on the head Sky; the large distributor in NY who will remain nameless was actually cut off by Simonton.

Simonton just launched for the 5500 Series new hardware options and new laminate wood grains. Along with the new wood grains white is now available on the inside of the Driftwood and Tan Colors. This is an excellent addition because we had many people who liked these colors on the outside but they did not work with their interior.

The hardware options are available now and the new interior colors will be available July 15th

Simonton is looking at different composites that will come in the future.

The pictures should enlarge if you click them.

If all this Simonton Windows "quality control issue" nonsense is really true, then how do you explain the fact that they just received the #1 Quality Rating in the 2009 Builder Brand Use Study (this makes the fourth time they have won!). Bear in mind that this is an independent study among builders. Not to mention they won the 2008 JD Power award ranking #1 in Builder and Remodeler Satisfaction. Again, an independent study. Someone MUST be happy with Simonton Windows!
