Chicago residential windows

#1 Post by Herald8904 »

Hello all,

I'm in the market for 15 window replacements in my home in Chicago. I'm a first time homeowner and my knowledge about windows is next to nothing.

A friend recommended Advanced Window Corp, a local manufacturer with mixed reviews. They gave me a quote of $13,000. From the research I've done (much of it leading me to multiple posts on this forum), they sound like a middle of the pack option.

I've working on getting some more quotes as well.

Just curious if this community has any recommendations or additional resources I should familiarize myself with before moving forward.

Regarding the quote from Advanced Window Corp, the contract states -
REPLACEMENT WINDOWS WILL BE WHITE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, SERIES-6300, (WELDED
FRAME AND SASH SYSTEM). GLASS TO BE DOUBLE PANE INSULATED UNITS 270 LOW-E COATED AND
ARGON GAS FILLED. WINDOWS ARE ENERGY STAR RATED. HALF SCREEN INCLUDED.
CONTRACTOR WILL REMOVE OLD VINYL WINDOWS, INSTALL NEW REPLACEMENT WINDOWS
MADE TO SIZE. INSULATE WITH EXPENDING FOAM SPACE BETWEEN NEW WINDOW AND WALL,
CAULK EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR WITH MATCHING SEALANT AND COVER EXTERIOR FRAME WITH
ALUMINUM COIL.

I would only suggest to look at the brands that are commonly thought of as quality. Soft-Lite, Sunrise, Okna, Polaris is a short list.
