Sash packs

#1 Post by Chazyd »

I’m a house painter. I’m currently working on a house built in 1993 in central Alabama. It has the old Modern Woodworks clad-wood windows. There’s several of the lower sash’s that have minor to major rot. Of course the frames are perfectly fine. Does anyone know of a comparable sash replacement? Has anyone tackled this before? I know that brand of window was hugely popular in the 80’s and 90’s. Thanks for all responses.

When we talk about "sash kits" we are talking about replacing both sashes and all the liners. Unless you are a good wood worker, can't see an application where I just replace the lower sash.

+1. If that manufacturer is still around you may be able to find something, but if not, your options would be sash kits, replacement windows, or custom built sash replacements which would probably cost more than a new window. You'd have to find a local shop that could produce the latter.
