Simonton 6500 vs Reliabilt 3900

#1 Post by homeupgrade »

Looking into a full-replacement of our house windows (about 20) and these are the big box options we are looking at.
Quotes on the Simonton 6500 series and Reliabilt 3900 series are between 20-23K including screens, installation, and lifetime waranties.

I would also consider non-big box windows from a local dealer in a similar price range/packages if you have suggestions.

Please include feedback on pros and cons to each. Thanks!

Where is the home, region of the country, located?

I would say neither, but if forced into a binary decision tree, the Simonton is the better unit.

New Jersey.

Can you specify why the Simonton is better or Reliabilt worse?

Are there comparably priced other brands of windows?

Relibuilt out of Lowes is a private label from Atrium. Atrium has a horrible reputation in our industry. Very low-grade stuff by a not so good manufacturer. Simonton is very dated, but still shares a decent reputation. The platform is very old at this point.

Depending where you are in NJ. Delaware ike could be your best option. If central NJ I could help ya.
What town/city are you in.

Okna is what most are going to suggest. I like the 800DX the best.

Simonton is a very bulky product and not nearly as efficient-air tight as some of higher end vinyl windows. Most window centric companies dont particularly care for Simonton. Reliablt is definitely a step down and is viewed as a product that roofers and weekend warriors usually choose. Remember, you want to do this project once.
If you are "very " South Jersey, we sometimes serve that area. Soft Lite and Okna are super regarded here. Northern part of the state (union county and upwards) there is an Okna dealer who posts here. What town?
