Vanguard vs. Sunrise Std. vs. Simonton vs. Milgard Vinyl

#1 Post by ftr422006 »

I haven't seen a comparison of these specific windows yet and these are the brands I am looking at for replacing my current Napco's.

I live in a southern suburb of Chicago. I am replacing 12 single hung Napco vinyl windows (only 8 years old!). 10 of them are doubles that look to be "H" railed together rather than welded. A few of them actually leak rain water into the wall (during a hard sidways rain from the north).

I have three seperate quotes but am really looking for what the best value is for the money...not just cost.

Milgard Tuscany > $7997 >> well respected installer #1 (BBB = A+)
Simonton Impressions > $8358 >> O.K. installer (BBB = unrated?)
Sunrise Std. > $9650 >> well respected installer #2 (BBB = A+)
Sunrise Vanguards > $10,300 >> well respected installer #2 (BBB = A+)

I seem to be favoring the Sunrise products due to the low leakage ratings and fiberglass reinforced frames (?). They also seem to have the better warranty.

Is the difference noticable between the Vanguard VG8 (U=0.28/SHGC=0.28) and the Sunrise Std. Omega 12 (U=0.30/SHGC=0.27)?

Anyone have any thoughts on which of these manufacturers windows would be the best value?
