Thermal Industries, Simonton, or ViWinco in Central New York

#1 Post by Schilp12 »

I live in Central New York and not sure if Thermal Industries, Simonton, or ViWinco would be best selection of window and would like opinions. This would include 20 Double-hung (includes 2 attic), 2 casement, 1 picture, and 6 hopper.

The replacement windows for Contractor 1 offers Thermal Industries 500, 530 and 700 series. It would probably be 530, with the information I have seen but maybe 500 for attic. I also could not find any info on 700. Contractor 2 uses Simonton 5500, but he did mention Caswell for attic. Contractor 3 uses ViWinco, but have not received information on which window (Edgemont or Stafford, or Cambridge) he would use, but did indicate would meet U-factor and SHGC of 0.30 or below, which makes me suspicious about the guy. Do know of another contractor who uses ViWinco, but have not contacted yet.

The Simonton or the TI are both decent imo... You might look a little more closely at the installation company to help aid your decision.
